Mad Mouse Speed
Hi,

just installed Belisarius,
I'm having problems with my mouse,
the pointer moves very very quickly and without any precision at the minimum mouse move,
it's very difficult to play this way, It takes me nearly an hour just to deploy a medium army!

I haven't had this kind of problems with the previous DLC (or with the base game),
is there something I could do to slow the mouse speed?

Thank you very much!

Very strange. Neither the DLC nor the patch should affect mouse speed. (Apart from some optimisations to remove some of the mouse lag that some people experienced before on slower systems. None of these increase mouse speed settings).

Your mouse driver software should have settings to control mouse speed.

I will pass this on to technical support in case they have any further insights.

Tried the mouse settings, with small improvements but... playing the game in windowed mode, now the mouse pointer "doubled" (there are 2 of them, as if one is the "pc pointer" and the other the "game" pointer) and the second one "drift and float" around... Some magic tricks really!

:-D

All very strange. I am hoping the expert will have some advice when he comes on line - but he is a later time zone, so won't be in the office yet.

Do you have software related with your mouse installed in your Windows?

No, I checked the mouse settings from the standard Windows Control Panel.

By the way, the "double mouse" issue appers only when I use the "framed windowed" option, on the other hand the "strange speed" and "drift and float" problems are common to every screen setup, but only after a battle/campaign is lauched.

Do you have any unusual screen setups etc? I use the framed window all the time without seeing any mouse doubling. If you are running in a framed window then surely the mouse must move at the same speed as it does on the desktop?

Cheers

No, strange screen setup, but thank you :-)

Press SHIFT+Q when in-battle and let us know what the top-left-most number says please.

The number is 29.

Thanks!

Which is a reasonable framerate. When in a framed mode and you see two mice overlaid, how can the mouse be too fast at that point? Are you saying it moves more quickly when over the window than when not?

Cheers

Yes, the "real mouse" moves fast, the "shadow mouse" moves slow.

I slow the mouse speed using the Windows control panel (from "5/10" to "3/10")
and the "double pointer" went away, but the "single pointer" still floats and moves in strange ways.

BTW, the Shift-Q Number (FPS) in the different modes is:

Windowed 29
Framed 31
Full Screen 30

Thanks!

It sounds like an issue with frame buffering - take a look at your GFX card control panel and ensure that it is not allowed to buffer more than a couple of frames ahead or it will stack up a number of frames before rendering them all at once.

Cheers
