Can't play at all on Windows 8.1 machine
Hello there!

I'm trying to play the game but can't get it to run on my Windows 8.1 laptop bought this year.

When I launch the game, I hear the background music but the game is minimized. When I Alt-Tab in, Windows says it isn't responding (screen goes from black to white instantly).

I tried :
- Windows compatibility mode (XP and 7)
- Forcing my Nvidia card on the game (since it's dual-graphics I have to choose which adapter to use via Nvidia control panel and it had chosen the Intel HD one by default)

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 7537 with
Core i7-4500U (4 cores @ 1.8ghz with Turbo Boost)
16GB RAM
Intel HD [whatever] / Nvidia GeForce GT 750M

Anyways. Drivers are up to date afaik. I just wanted to check out the game but if nobody else ever had trouble and can help, I guess I give up.

Any settings I can fiddle with at least? I don't see a .ini or whatever else to go tell the game not to run in fullscreen and try the usual configuration changes to try and figure out what the problem may be.

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm not sure what the problem is here. I've not heard of anyone having trouble with the game on Win8 before.

If you want to try running the game in windowed mode, the settings file is kept in C:\Users\%YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME%\AppData\Roaming\Bullet Candy it's called BC3D.dtb

You'll need an SQLite database editor to change the values, and this free one should work http://sqlitestudio.pl/?act=download

Open the database with that program, then double click on the BC3D icon on the left bar. Then double click on the setupData table and chose edit table. click the data tab in the window that opens and change the screendepth to 0. close the window and it'll prompt you to save, then quit the program. If you've done that right it should start Bullet Candy in windowed mode.

Cheers
Charlie
