Beyond Earth Linux!
We are proud and happy to announce that Civilization: Beyond Earth is finally here for Linux gamers! I wanted to send out a heartfelt thanks to the Linux community for their support and their patience as we raced towards a holiday relaase. Happy Holidays!

As you have noticed, both AMD and Intel are not currently officially supported. We still have several issues to iron out on those chipsets and are working with both manufacturs closely to ensure a timely update that will include support. I should note that both are in a very playable state (actually thanks to our partners at AMD and Intel), and if we've learned anything from the Linux community...you all will tinker and make it even better ;)

Chime in here with your experiences, your issues, and more importantly your feedback.

Linux port first impressions
Intro plays and you can setup a game. Slight Warbeling sound.
Chose ARC scientist, retrograde thrusters, machinery and Orem- 599b.
One computer works just fine but the other one crashes when starting the game. The hw is equal otherwise, only graphics are different, AMD crashes.
Would love to give it a shot before I buy it. Wonder if they will port a linux demo.
Having huge issues with the graphics only lowest settings are displaying the terrain. And there are also several UI parts missing.

System: Gentoo Linux 64 Bit 3.14.14 Kernel.

GPU: Nvidia Geforce 660 TI with 343.36 drivers.

CPU: Phenom 1090T Hexacore

RAM: 16GB

Huge disappointing for now, the CIV 5 port was much much better :/
hmm the Opensource AMD drivers glitch out bad and doesn't even load an game. the Binary blobs from amd doesn't display the terrain...........
Well got the terrain to display by turning the terrain detail to low..
Alright guys if you are having issues with the terrian not rendering correctly turn off threaded display under the Vsync setting.. with that off I am able to run the game on Ultra :P
Not working here with disable of threaded rendering. Best i could achieve was keeping terrain detail level on "minimum" and both "blur" off. Those 3 options are bugged. Rest is on "High" (except water which can't be set to anything else then "low") and vsync, threaded rendering on.

Still the UI sometimes looks it's missing some background stuff.
Ubuntu 14.10, Kernel 3.18.1, Mesa 10.5 git. Laptop with Intel i5-3337U, Intel HD4000 + AMD 8750M 2GB, 8GB RAM. Game loading twice faster than on Windows. On everything high and anti-alias perfomance not so good(but still playable), but without anti-alias and some settings to medium it's descent! Waiting for better graphic drives. Aspyr rocks!:happymeat:

I may try to go back to the Mesa 10.4 or 10.5 with the open source drivers and see if it loads with it.. the thing i am stoked about mesa 10.4 + is it has native DirectX 9 built into it. which will make games in wine play so much better :P heck once game devs pick up on it we may start seeing even more games with native releases on linux :P

Well Nvidia is also far from perfect, can't actiavte blur and terrain details must be kept at "minimum" or it's just black :/ But thank you nevertheless!
The main issue with AMD thus far is Threaded Display.. game was giving me redering issues and had to put everything on Low til i figured out to turn Threaded display Off and now able to run the game with ever thing else maxed out at 70+ FPS on an AMD HD 6970 2GB with the binary drivers from AMD.. gona try the Opensource drivers later with the lastest Mesa Version

Also suppect its prob same issue with Intel Chips

There's alot of gfx problems atleast for nvidia. Starting with UI in the main menus, only the top part of the buttons (ok, back, next, etc) are drawn the text just hangs under the blueish tint. In game it gets worse, can't see the map at all, it's just black. Haven't fiddled with gfx settings yet, I just set everything to ultra as it shouldn't be any problems on my current setup.
