Your best and worst affinity?
I'd have to say my favourite affinity is probably the Supremacy path. I just imagine my citizens going all Deus Ex, cyborging it up. I also like reading the fluff and the quest decisions you can make to augment your citizens. Plus their units look pretty damn awesome.

My worst affinity has to be Harmony. I do like the idea of working with the planet and the alien life forms (Even though at the moment the Alien ai is pretty much non existant) but I can never seem to make what makes Harmony work acually work for me. This is a personal issue as I've seen plenty of amazing Harmony players.

I'm not very good, but out of all 3, my preferred choice is Harmony. It's just more me. Knew it would be before I even played it.

I quite like the units (particularly the Xeno Titan), I like manipulating Miasma, and I like being passive with the aliens. I do think that Harmony's rank 1, 3 and 6 bonuses need to be changed though. Compared with Purity and Supremacy, they kinda suck.

Not a fan of the other two affinities, though I'll play them if I start a world with more Firaxite/Floatstone than Xenomass.

My least favourite is Purity. I just don't like the philosophy behind it, so I really don't like playing it.

I'm the same with Purity. We're in this space age paradise, why stay the same?

Harmony because there would not have been a need to leave earth if we would have lived in harmony with it ;)

Beside that, the Xeno Titan is the the absolute elite unit in my opinion.

Xeno Mass bonuses are better then floatstone or firaxite.

Spreading Miasma is mighty against other affinities.

and so on

Well, technically Purity doesn't stay the same. From my playthrough, they allow things like DNA manipulation to make Human's better. However, they want Humans to be Humans rather than cyborgs or half alien hybrids.

I actually prefer Purity. Mainly because I enjoy the units more and I find that the bonuses to farms actually makes farms a useful, fast, and free improvement compared to biowells. However, I'm not to keen on their victory condition.

Purity all the way. Nothing makes you feel so great as getting a couple battlesuits and kicking sand in someones face.

The battlesuit indeed is a strong reason for purity as it is a great reference to WH40K but honestly I would have put that unit into supremacy as it fits the Space Marines Orders way better then the pure human Imperial Army.
They might protect humanity against "The Alien! The Xeno! The Heretic!" but the thought of supremacy is way closer to them as the thought of purity is.

I disagree with putting the battlesuits into Supremacy. Supremacy is all about merging of cybernetics and Humanity so they become one. To that end, all of their units are robotic in nature. Battlesuits is merely power armor that is controlled by Humans. That fits perfectly with Purity as they view Humans above everything.

Purity,I like the units and the concept. The affinity I dislike has to be Harmony for turning their back on humanity in general and their own humanity. At least surpemacy doesn't turn its back on the human race even if their methods and idology is disturbing.

Harmony - filthy treehuggers
Purity - so pure they wont live with earthlings
Supremacy - We are the Borg, resistance is futile

Can't get a handle on Harmony. I want to get a good Supremacy foraxite-supplied start, but haven't yet. I tend to end up with Purity. Just guard/make space for 3 cities, right?

4, I believe. 20 settlers, max of 6 per settlement.

Right, Sam. Still finding that one works nicely with a lil foresight.

I like purity in theory - poke the aliens and make them eat everybody else's explorers while you get to grab all the loot.
Strategically, I suppose that Harmony is best - you usually seem to get significantly more xenomass (last game was 44 xenomass and 6 firaxite on my starting continent), possibly because the game needs places to spawn nests.

Harmony seems to be the weakest.

Even ignoring the OPness of the first Purity perk, the Harmony perk of Aliens calming faster is useless during the exploration stage of the game as you do not have the firepower to enrage them yet.
Also, their second and third perk overlap while the other affinities get two (more or less useful) bonuses.
And to add insult to injury, their trademark of healing in Miasma can be researched by everyone.

Their units are a bit lackluster too as they are just bigger and bigger versions of melee units without any special powers (Brazil will do well with them, though). The rocktopus is unique, but so slow that I do not consider it useable at all as it still needs a free orbital space to function.

The harmony techs are also rather far outside on the tech web, meaning you will be stuck with weak units for longer. You also need several expensive technologies for the victory while the other affinities only need one.

On the plus side, Xenomass can be a very powerful tile (but that is useable by anyone with some research) and their combat rover can be a very good raider late game.

Not sure if Purity or Supremacy is better, but Purity has the advantage of the very powerful first level perk and also that the Battlesuit need titanium instead of floatstone which usually allows you to field more of them.
