Trade routes?
I'm aware of many other cities and stations, and have a trade convoy and trade vessel created. But I can't find anything in my list of choices. My other city is doing fine, and has two routes set up. Can you only have two routes for your whole civilization?

Check for miasma - it blocks trade routes (and shows up as red when you're trying to select one).

Oh, thanks. Didn't know about that.

Cities by default are limited to two trade routes. There are technologies/buildings and sponsors that can increase the base trade routes. Polystralia, as a sponsor, gets "Capital city gets +2 Trade Routes." In the technology Robotics there is a building you can build, "The Autoplant" - after you build it ... you will get a quest for +1 Trade Route or +1 Energy.

It's also important to note that Trade routes are divided into two categories, Land and Sea trade routes. The trade route has to be completely over water or completely over land; even if you can see a city on the other side of the ocean, if there isn't water within 1 tile of the city you can't trade with it.

Yes, I have read something about that in the civicopedia, but I did not know about the ocean tile, thx :)

Distance, can be a factor as well. You also need a clear path to the designated city - on land there has to be hexes with no miasma it needs to travel to the designated city. By water, you need to discover the path to the city that can be traveled by water.

As for what the distance is... i am not sure of that... I notice the range seemed to get further as my game progrssed but I am not sure it was because miasma was being clear or what.

FYI, if you do not like a specific civilization you could put miasma systemactically around their lands to block their trades - of course you wont get any trades from them either... but all is fair in love and war!

Hey OP, I just discovered, the trading partner (normally another faction) needs to have the trading tech researched and a trading depo built in order for you to trade.

No, this is incorrect. A trade depot is only required in the origin city.

Also, huge necro.
