Any way to install Civ Beyond Earth with just the files?
I bought Beyond Earth about a month ago, but my Uni campus restricts my access to steam. I can browse the store online but cannot on the desktop application.

I decided to visit an Internet Cafe and downloaded the game onto an external, to bring back to my dorm to try installing it that way. However I have found via reading the PDF manual that the game requires an internet connection the very first time it's installed.

I have the files on my computer now, but cannot run the installation manually, and fear I won't be able to at all unless my PC can access Steam.

Is there any way at all I could go back to the internet cafe and perchance download and install the game onto my external, and then authorise the game that way by going online with it there?

Any help would be appreciated.

No. There is not. Because Steam, among other things, is DRM.

DRM?

Digital Rights Management. A way of ensuring that only people who have legitimately bought the game can use it.

(And please note that the rules of Steam discussions preclude discussions of people using games illegitimately)

Steam's ensures that by only running the game if it can verify that, and the game is set up to not run without Steam doing that.

If you take your computer to somewhere that has better net access, install and run the game, then put Steam in offline mode, it will work for an unspecified length of time before needing to connect to Steam again.
