Expansion packs?
Are they planning on adding any expansion packs?. Or is the game dead.

nobody knows... No official annoucement has been made. However usually they do some Expansions to their games. For Civ 5 and even for XCOM they did Expansions. So i would guess there will be something for beyond earth. Which is good, because the game needs definitly more content (Affinities, units, Biomes and so on).

There has been activity showing up in the Steam DB for the game, so someone is working on something.

Aye I'd assume they are working on 1, I'm waiting for the 1st to start playing again miself, I love the sci-fi theme but it really does feel like theres a load of stuff missing.

With the amount of disappointement & low sales surrounding this title, not sure if its worth it. It would be best to keep some sort of updates coming, but to mainly focus on redemption with the next CIv installment. Just look at steam gameplay stats...

Civ 5 wasn't great when it was released and only got good with the first expansion, if they don't try to fix the problems with an expansion a lot of people (myself included) will lose all trust in them and just not buy civ games again.

People seem to have forgotten how bad civ 5 was at launch.. hell most people wouldn't consider it good until the final expansion came out, gods and kings fixed a lot of stuff and made it playable but before then it was a complete mess with almost none of the content in it now.

Civ 5 was indeed a little 'off' at launch, but i recall the stats were much higher than those of BE. I doubt that x-pac's will bring in hordes of players here, but miracles do happen. You are right though, perhaps improving this title for those who have it, is the first step toward redemption...
