Name your own cities
Hi everyone, I have a request, as I have no idea how to code things myself.

One of the things I really miss from this game, is to be able to name your own cities/outposts upon founding them. I know that you can rename them once they become cities, but you are stuck with the default names for the cities until they actually become cities. I enjoy coming up with my own names to give my faction a bit more personality.

Is there are way to code this, so you can give your outposts a name on your own, before founding? Like you can in other games :)

Thanks!

It's in the game. Click your city to go into City View and there'll be an "Edit" up top where you can change your city name.

You didn't understand my question - it is not when it becomes a city, it is when I found the Outpost that I want to be able to give it my own name.

What's the difference really? Outposts don't take long at all to become cities.

So, I just started playing this game.

Yes, it annoys me too that you can't make your own names, but have to wait to edit.

Found this thread while looking to see if I missed something. I was thinking, "Of course I should be able to name my settlements and colonies, and the whole damn planet if I want to, it is MY game, not THEIR game.

Yes, you can edit the city names available for each faction. You just have to be sure that you aren't using another faction's name, or delete it from that faction's list, so that it doesn't cause conflicts. The game just draws the names from the file list... I don't think it is even random. It loads in the order that they are listed, so your capital will always be the first name on the list.
