Unhandled Exception - crash on start up.
The game crashes every time I get past the first video on start-up, with this window saying "Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION", and then an option to quit or to copy to clipboard. This is what it copied:

Unhandled Exception
Code: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Error writing address 0x9c0

Call Stack
-----------------------------------------------------
??? ! ??? ???, line 0
??? ! ??? ???, line 0

Anyone have the same problem, or know how to fix this? I've reinstalled the game 2 times already, no difference.

Try validating the game files

Make any changes recently?

I just varified, no change. I'll try updating drivers. I haven't made any changes recently (that I know of).

Are you running any anti virus applications?
Try disabling them

Eh, mine's still not working. Thanks for the suggestions though. I'm going to bed now, night night.

Should be an exclude directories option in the AV, you should add your Steam libraries.

It asks me to allow once or always.I said always .Still no load.I shut it down it loads. At least it runs.I will have to close my browser and AV and then remember to turn it back on after I play.

Which AV? Should be an exceptions options
Add an exception for the directory Steam is installed, the Steam EXE and the BE exe.

Tried validating, reinstalling entire game, disabling AV, running in screen-mode....same error every time.
Did a ticket on it, but all I can find on the forums is a guy reinstalling entire OS and putting steam+game on primary hdd, rather than secondary. - not truly understanding that "fix"

Yeah I've done all this ♥♥♥♥ too, nothing works. BUT, it does work on my desktop PC, just not this latptop (toshiba R830). No idea why, the origonal game worked when I first got it on this laptop.

Yea mine acted up after working at first too. It was my AV. I allowed it through and it still wont launch,I have to shut it down.Could try shutting down windows firewall, but that`s a stretch.

Just found out my Civ V is not working either, only this time is crashes before the intro video, not after. I think I'm just gonna reinstall steam, something's gone terribly wrong.

Nope, that made no difference whatsoever. That really wasted a lot of time. Any other possible fix for this?
