black screen not fixed by fullscreen=0
Tried firing up BE for the first time since my windows 10 upgrade. Game is back to the old black screen trick. My graphicsettings.ini file has fullscreen = 0, so I don't know what to do. The game is definitely running in the background, if I alt tab in such a way that the task bar appears I can see the game working.

Any suggestions?

won't even load to blackscreen now (tinkered with settings via geforce experience, even after resetting it gave up trying to start). so lets see how a reinstall works. otherwise i guess i get to see if gmg will refund me my rising tide purchase :/

Sorry for the late reply. For whatever reason, my civ5 folder got marked as read only, so I was not able to get fullscreen=0 to stick.

Initially I could get it to work by unplugging my good monitor and the older one was a supported resolution, and even from within the game I couldn't get the setting to change.

Once I was able to set the whole folder (the location with the ini file) to be editable, I changed the setting and the game loaded up in fullscreen-windowed mode and it worked fine.

This read only thing has come up again at least one other time since my win10 upgrade, so I don't know what's going on but at least now I know that if I can't make settings changes stick that's probably why.

Win10 upgrade for some users sets all or part of the user directory to no longer be 'owned' by the user (it may be linked to switching to a microsoft.com account when you previously had a local account). You need to give your user 'full control' permissions on the user folder and all its contents.

Bless you.
