supremacy, harmony or purity
which one will you use and why
on the request of farsight i added this info to my post

The Supremacy affinity puts its trust in advanced technology, and utilizes highly specialized units that aid each other in the field.

The Harmony affinity aims to co-exist with the planet, utilizing genetic modification, and is able to domesticate the native species.

The Purity affinity is isolationist, building powerful defensive structures and attempting to make the new planet more Earth-like.

Random, if the game allows it. I like having to craft my strategy on the fly during the game.

from what i've seen you can but each piece of tech has a value for the affinity of nano tech might give you +1 supremacy but alien biology gives you plus one harmony

but my question was overall what do you like the sound of the most

Supremacy, technology will beat anything the planet can throw at me, and because big gun fortresses are too obvious. Very rarely in history has any nation won a war without technology on their side (Mongols would be the exception I guess, but they had way better tactics). For example, in the Greek-Persian war, Greece won some battles outnumbered 5-10 to 1 because of their superior technology (Phalanx)

phalanx is tactics.

besides stalin was right there is a point where sheer numbers overwhelm any technological advantage.

Ok phalanx is more tactics, but take for example then battles between European forces and native americans. Many of the spanish conquerors had only a small army, but were able to topple the Aztec and Inca empires because of their guns and cannons

Pretty sure you don't choose at the start of game. All start out the same then branch in different directions based on tech choices.

I think i'll try Harmony first game around. Sounds like becoming allies with the aliens would be fun.

point but I dont imagine the harmony and purity factions would be that far behind a supremecy faction.

True, they will all be balanced in game I'm sure, and just depend on your play style. One of the devs said Supremacy is about building the right units and putting them in specialised formations, just seems like more of my style.

Ive just relaised that I cant say " I will grind your formations uunder the treads of my tanks".

But still I shall win through sheer unending numbers by building a warp gate to earth and summoning unending reinforcments.

I wonder if there will be more affinities for DLC and hopefully like in alpha centary we'll be able to have a customizable faction.

Which was just as much germs as technology lol. Walking into a city full of dead and sick fighters isn't exactly a challenge.

I don't disagree with your point, but couldn't resist :P

I will try an example: German Tiger tank against Shermans in WW2. It took a long time for the allies to catch up, and even then it was a numbers game (pitting 5 Shermans against 1 Tiger).

Or shortly after, US releasing two atom bombs on the world, which has paralysed the world in fear of a WWIII.

But yes, in general technology and strength go hand in hand. It will be interesting to see how it will play out in this game. I, too, am so far favoring Supremacy. In Civ5 I always enjoyed getting infantry, cavalry, and cannon to work together as opposed to just massing crossbows and brute-forcing it, and how it is described is Supremacy's units will work better mixed together rather than just picking one and massing it in overpowering numbers.

But then they also got that "lone wolf" perk that gives bonuses to the complete opposite scenario. Even then I imagine it will be used to work with the "team", as in just how it is important to keep certain units together, it will be equally important to keep the lone wolf unit to the side of the action as a "sniper" unit.

Purity for me at first because I would prefer to contemplate a recognizably human future for humanity while I learn the game.

Next, I will prolly hit Supremacy becasue I love the idea of hot man on machine sex :)

Later when I begin to feel guilty for my nerve-stapling adjacent crimes against The Planet I will soothe my guilt by playing Harmony :)

Harmony mainly because i wanna get the alien units and i want to attract seige worms to rival cities. plus i want to be healed by Miasma and dump it on my cities and enemy cities (it damages non harmony/aliens by 10 when the unit ends turn on it)
