I've not properly played it myself but good to know.

I struggle finding games similar to Warsim when I'm trying to explain it to someone. It's such a weird game it's hard to find close comparisons.

No kingdom, no goblins, no invasions but 200% more gambling.

SanctuaryRPG is pretty great for this in my opinion.

@Love 200% more gambling... THAN WARSIM? Is it a casino haha

@Makaral, good one!

Try Candy Box. Its an "idler" game, but its definitely different. Takes a bit to get going but I can promise it has gameplay.

Not procedurally generated, but King of dragon pass and its successor Six Ages : Ride Like the Wind are also text based empire management

50 Years, could be another text based empire management. But with a much smaller focus.

Ooh love KODP and totally forgot about 50 years but that was a cool little game too :)

Great suggestions mate

Ah ! And a brillant text game which captures some of the essence of procedural generation and colony/empire management : SeedShip, of course !

OOOh yeah! Another classic!
Flap Oct 31, 2022 @ 6:11am
I really wish that seedship would merge with a simple 4x such a Uciana, to define the starting conditions.

I realise that something similar could be done with Warsim : a caravan traveling in the country. The choosen site and state of the caravan would define the empire's starting condition...

Ooh ! And I forgot about Liberal Crime Squad, by Tarns Adams, the author of Dwarf Fortress

And the version maintained by the community : https://github.com/King-Drake/Liberal-Crime-Squad
This forum is the game's home : http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?board=3.0

There is lot of management and weird stuff in it too. That's probably the closest thing to Warsim.

I've heard about Liberal Crime Squad before but never played it properly
Flap Nov 2, 2022 @ 7:08am
Well, there is squad based "dungeon" exploration too. So that RPG part it is not for everyone.

There's always insurrection IRL!
lots of text in that one.
I can second Liberal Crime Squad, that game is very fun. I even have the mobile port someone made on my phone! Great for killing time, and also an excellent satire of two-party politics in America.
