How is single player?

So I have been watching this game on my radar since it was released and would have purchased it but was caught up in other until now. I am seeing a lot of bad reviews and people talking like there is no one on the servers to play the game. Can this game be played through single player? Are there areas that require a group play thru? I love the genre and want to pick this up cause it seems it's still being developed, however if it is ONLY a multiplayer game then I won't get it. THX

There is no single player. There is no hosting your own server on your own machine. There is no server hosting choice. There is only Nitrado, which to be quite frank, is garbage.

The game itself is quite fun, but, at least for me, it is being shelved until I can, at least, choose another site besides Nitrado for hosting because trying to rent from Nitrado for another game just led to nothing but a week of headaches, and having to rent another server elsewhere.

I'm with you and Mitsu. I won't be returning to this game until single-player (or self-hosting) is an option. Multiplayer is useless at this point (and for me in general) and only complicates trying to enjoy the game.

I don't mind the multiplayer aspect. But right now the official servers I've joined have all been empty of players, but littered with stuff EVERYWHERE, and the private server I did join went under after about 3 days, which was depressing. As far as renting my own, I'd love to. But not from Nitrado. I rented an Empyrion server from them. Dead on arrival, had to wait forever to get a hold of someone to fix it once. Was up for about 30 mintues, and dead again. So right now if it's a choice between not playing and not wasting money on a broken server from a terrible server hosting company, and having to constantly stress if my server is going to be active next time I go to play it... Sorry devs, great game so far, but I ain't playin.

How soon is soon? I've been watching, hoping for some sort of update with servers for quite a while now.

I hope so..... I dont do public servers, too many trolls in this day and age, i have no patience for that, the little bout of smacktalk is fine, but anymore nowadays it's not a little smack talk, it's outright malicious behavior, and not being able to contain and control and give the little pricks the boot has kept me from even looking at this title for quite awhile now.
