So how are the monkeys "fed"?
Looks super interesting but you spy on people and then..? You sell pictures? You need to look for certain details? Is there an ingame profit to be made?

And why would I want to "feed" the monkeys? Would I see a bigger payoff?

Watching people's lives is fun,but messing with them is more fun.Interacting with the monkeys is called "feeding them".Plus,I believe there are some moral choices in the game.(in the trailer you can see something that closely resembles a suicide)
Just as an example;you see that a man is getting cheated on by his wife.
Do you;
Observe further
Anonymously tell him to come home
Anonymously tell him that his wife is cheating
Warn the wife if the husband is about to find out that shes cheating
Blackmail the wife
Reveal the truth about everything to the husband
etc

Yeah that's what I was wondering. What's the point if you do? Do you generate more money, or XP? Or it's just for kicks?

Play with the monkeys is the true money in this world.

It seems like it's just for kicks. But I'm sure there's always that possibility that you could eventually turn information into blackmail or something too. Could be interesting to see it go that route.

You can
What I experienced in the game might give you some hints: After getting enough messages, I telephoned Mr. Stattler living in cage 3 and purposely let him know he was monitored. Then the old man removed the surveillance device and a warning email was sent to me by the club. That email said what I had done could be an indication of "feeding the monkeys"...

I've played the Beta/Demo, notifying the movie star's agent that the star is being photographed nets you a bit of money in the form of sellable autographed photos you receive from the star as a thank you.

Alternatively you can contact the photographer and blackmail _her_ , either into sending you the pictures or providing a limo service to the shops and back (reducing the time to 10 mins from an hour).

Or you can sell footage to the sleazy TV channel.

I think that is the most fleshed out "cage" at the moment - feeding the other monkeys doesn't appear to have the range of results. (Or at least I hadn't found them). There is also a hint at possible further consequences even after a cage has been closed, which could also be interesting.

I'm very interested what the full game will be like

If you catch the financial advisor some nights, they might be dressing up and singing. You can then call them (After getting their stage name from their preformance) and tell them to go with their dreams. They end up winning a local talent show, and then send you something. I never got it because the demo ended before then.

if you actually talk to your friend who instant messages you at the beginning and exhaust all dialogue options (who doesn't?) she discloses that feeding the monkeys is either interacting with, or making them aware they're watched, pretty simple and well defined rule, truth be told though, the game is a pretty thinly veiled moral dillemma playground and you're actually meant to do the opposite of the title/tagline, it seems the game wants you to intervene, it's a bluff, they know you'll want to because you get told not to.
