Translating Peole
Does anyone know what she's saying?

Google translate detects as romanian but translates one word in twenty so it's probably just coincidence. Possibly it's words from ten languages used at random to generate a new one? Anyone read enough languages to make sense of it like that?

I showed it to a linguist who claims to be able to identify most languages in the Roman alphabet and came away with "Well either it's one of the few I know nothing about, like Latvian or a random combination or a made up language."

If it is made up I'd be interested to know if it's gibberish or if we can work it out. It seems like there's enough consistency in the text that it's not entirely someone hammering a keyboard at random.

Perhaps taking the known translations and applying them to short sentences will let us figure out more words from context and boostrap our way to a full translation of the language. I've started to transcribe some of her conversations and might have a go at it later.

If anyone else wants to take a shot here's what I've got. Where one speaker and the TV is English it should be obvious who is who. When she's talking to the man (Is Ramaz his name? Or a place or something else?) I've indicated who speaks first and used a line break to indicate when the speaker changes.

Huh, yeah I find some line by line translations that sorta work but not quite. It could be a line by line amalgomation but limtiations of autotranslation get in the way?

If it's essentially a transcribed accent in a foreign language we're toast, I can't think of any way to deal with that short of getting a native speaker for whatever langauge(s) they used involved.

I think that we would need to happen upon somone that notice the pattern that is used for transkribed it or what obscure launguge they have used.

I also think that we would need to check the line by line translations with somone that know that laungue like I said the translation for swedish(and other nordic languge) is absolutly and absordly wrong and I suspect that allot of the other translations are simularly wrong.

If one of the line by line translations are even close to correct we might have found the right laungage famely.

To add to our corpus of text: When you end the scenario by saying "love love love" a new job appears:

ETEPIER RI NAMRADUZ

Ebeku goi sozaz'pi tlsatepnam am esuntenel e om namradu v telpal tepuz ep lis ri iuz tele goyelx so zoz suzez. Po suntamze ritamri ri pe separer ri tepuz telparuz

Key skills: Om tepu baam dru

(esuntenel has a curly accent over the second n, separer has a regular accent over the first e)

On completing this job a picture of an old man with a long white beard appears with the comment (given high food and sleep):

Weve, my je isperu nep! Nuz epasseru telpanuz u goi? Vu ni goya ip sella v po toyis wamr ispe tpole epadoe, pep, ispe, waike.

(epadoe has an accent over the first e)

The phonetics do seem Baltic, but it seems closer to a fictitious language combining word structure from various Eastern and North-Eastern European languages.

This makes the language just beyond the grasp for most people who have heard bits and pieces of various eastern block languages. I think this is very much intentional, so you can gist a tiny bit of what they are saying, but not enough to make full sense of it.

p.s. Sorry for the necro-posting. I thought considering the amount of input on the conversation thus far, it would be better to continue on the thread than post a new one.

I wish you could keep exploring the language beyond the scope of the cage investigation.

Right now I have no idea who the bearded old man is or what the new job offer is for, and I wouldn't mind so much if there actually were a way to figure it out.
