If you're this upset, surely contacting them and asking for a refund is a much more sensible course of action than ranting on the steam forums. What are you even hoping to accomplish with your post?
Yes, the waiting sucks, everyone is aware of that. Calling it a scam isn't going to do anything useful. Either go ask the devs for a refund, or wait patiently like everyone else is doing.
I do feel sorry for you, and I am not in any way shape or form connected with these people. But perhaps you did not notice the "you are going to a web sight that is not connected with steam" icon With the stop sign at the top of the page . When you went to the link to the patron page.
Steam can not do anything about getting you a refund.
It was your decision to give money to people who you most likely know literally nothing about. I I have never used or paid into a patron page As I am a person who for the most part likes to have some idea as to what he is getting when he pay s for something. I sort of put patron in about the same class as those people who try to ask you for money as you stand at the bus stop.
I
think The whole idea behind patron is that You want to support the artist because you admire The work they have already produced . Sort of like various kings became patron's of the arts in decades past for playwrights and painters musician"s and so on
For example when you walk down the street and see one of those musicians on the street corner and they sing a song that you like and you toss a coin into their guitar case or whatever In which case most reasonable people would not try to find the street corner singer and demand that they get there twenty five cents back or whatever .
It is . Not I think that you are pre paying for content that will be released . Which i have done on steam and the content has been released for various games . . Usually they say pre pay for xyz and get xyz with bonus material zcx or whatever and it is very clear as to what you are getting and how much it will cost .
I do hope you did not give these people to much money I know nothing of your life situation and I have no suggestions other than as suggested above by ReverseNecromancy above to contact the developers to see if they will give you your money back . However the fact that you are concerned about this Makes me think that you may be in a situation where you are spending way to much time sitting alone in front of a computer . And becoming mentally unhealthy as a result so if that's is the case . The following is not medical advance but this has worked for me
As a person who struggles with The loss of reality sometimes myself I do have some practical suggestions for you . The first is to start taking cold showers both during the am and PM they will help you sleep and help you to wake up and become aware of your surroundings
the second is to get some clocks if your computer is in front of a wall put an electric clock on the wall so you do not lose the awareness of time .
As I said I know nothing about your life situation but if you have a lot of spare time on your hands you need to get out and contact people perhaps doing some volunteer work in your community . Try to get out at least once a day and do something other than what you have to do to survive . If you can manage it
hope that helps.
You have heard nothing from this game because it is a scam. The developer Critical Bliss is a scammer and a con artist. He is quite literally the Yandere Simulator Developer of western erotic games.
The information in this post comes from me watching the way Critical Bliss operates for the past three years. Over time, developers have cut ties to him or blacklisted him because of what I am going to tell you below. My developer group (Kyungeki) has absolved all relations to him last year but kept watching to see what would happen. Nothing has changed or improved.
Critical Bliss consist of one person. He is a former professional marketer with the goal of taking the money of everyone he encounters with minimal effort on his part. Those side games he is “publishing” are an attempt to get Patreon and Kickstarter money off of their work, and then run away with it. He will not allow any of those games to release on an expected schedule. If a game looks like it will soon be finished, he will convince the creator that something is not done right, which will cause to game will tank so it is better to never release it. This method of continuing to push back deadlines allows him to suck up as much Patreon money and Kickstarter money as possible will stringing along expectant fans.
Any developer he partners with, he will do everything possible to control the Steam account, Kickstarter campaign, or whatever method that will make the money goes to him first. Then he can “allow” the developer to have a cut. To get the initial trust of a developer, he will scout naive ones. He will promise “I can get [blank] artist to work on your game!” Or “I have [blank] developer that can do [unfamiliar] part of your game for you!” Or “I can get you a ton of marketing! Look at these other games my fingers have touched!” Never mind that these other games had cult followings before he even knew about them. He does the bare minimum of marketing if any at all. You can even see how devoid of updates his own Patreon and Kickstarter page are for WMNAD. He does not do email updates, or reach out to forums, or mention the game anywhere outside of his own Discord.
If you have a complaint or concern, and you are a backer, he will usher you out of the public eye of Twitter or Patreon or Kickstater and into his Discord. There he will direct message you with empty promises and “proof” that the game is still being worked on. In reality, he is doing everything he can to make sure the game never makes progress. If you dare to bring this up in a public channel of the Discord he will give you warning and then a ban, or just an outright ban and messages removed.
If the developer he is “publishing” is keen enough to push their game to completion, he will immediately insist on a “marketing percentage” for all of his hard work. He will fight tooth and nail not to have this in any kind of contract. He will insist on a verbal agreement because “you can trust me right?” Otherwise you are a racial slur. If the developer looks to have particularly high potential he may cave and allow a written agreement. If you show any uncertainty in this process he will offer to write it himself. For “free” as he will convince you you can’t afford a basic contract lawyer. He will then type up a “contract” with the legal power of a wet noodle in Microsoft Word over the course of four months, so as to delay your game as much as possible. In a verbal agreement or a written contract he will go back on it. He will suddenly decide to stop paying you because of “personal money problems”. That will then be backed up with a sob story of how hard his life is right now, so he needs your promised money to make up for his own terrible budgeting practices.
By the way, if you talk to him for any extended length (because he insists on voice calls and no text communication, likely since there will be no written transcript that can be saved) you will see his personality to be the most un-ironic caricature of a Dave Chappell sketch. He has a loud hatred of anything resembling professionalism and a love of anything sleaze. Most people rightfully take his presentation as a running joke. But it is not. He really is that kind of person.
When WMNAD was early in development a number of skilled individuals volunteered to help. If anyone made something substantial, their contributions would be taken and then they would be sidelined with a promise of future tasks to work on. No one would get future work. But they are just volunteers, it is no problem right? Well not everyone was a volunteer. More than one artist would be hired to make some graphics for the game, and then he would give that artist less and less work until nothing. This is because they were moving too fast for his tastes. Any of those amazing artists could have finished this short 2D visual novel in 3 or so months. Instead it has been drawn out to three years. But he “hired” them right? He paid them a lump sum once, and then promised them a cut of the profits when the game sold. Unknown to them, the game will never be sold. These artists would check in every week or so expecting another assignment. They set aside larger and greater projects to be ready to work on this with the expectation of a nice payout. He will give them an excuse of “next week”. There is always another week. He does this just to gleefully waste their time and stop them from focusing on something that may take attention away from his never-to-be-completed game.
Art is only one major part of a 2D visual novel. The other part is the game/engine itself. He has refused to use a proven and community supported visual novel engine like Ren’py or RPGMaker or Visual Novel Maker or even Unity. Instead, it must be made with the most low-powered and out-dated software he could find: TyranoBuilder. For one, this allows him to blame any delays on legitimate tech issues. Two, he can claim he built the entire game from scratch by himself, since he can’t find anyone to do it. The reality is that this is a lie. CB’s sister entity is Lewd Media, which runs the hentai and eroge review site Lewd Gamer. The developer behind Lewd Gamer is phenomenal. That developer has skills that would make multimillion-dollar Silicon Valley engineers worried about their positions. And that developer is barred from touching the (atrocious) source code of WMNAD. As is any outside developer that offers assistance to the game’s technical issues. Much like YandereDev, when legitimate progress is made or possible, he scrambles to kill it, since that would make his scam come to an end.
Similarly to how he would push back the release date of his “publishing” games indefinitely, he has done the same to WMNAD on Steam. He did this to stay at the top of Steam’s “Coming Soon” algorithm of recommended games. This is part of why you have seen WMNAD on the bottom scrollbar of recommended games when looking at similar erotic games on Steam. Steam made this a bannable offense for Steamworks developers last year.
Why did it take so long for a post like this to be made? Because my development group (Kyungeki) began to get seriously taken advantage of and antagonized by him in April 2019. Since then, we wanted to build our case with as much facts as possible and hoped something changed before exposing this behaviour.
What can you do about this? Take it off your Steam wishlist. Report the game’s Patreon. Report the game’s Kickstarter for fraud. Don’t support scams like this. It makes every independent erotic games developer look horrible. It is already a niche genre of games and unsure developers. Behaviour like Critical Bliss’ erodes the trust of everyone and guarantees that the genre never grows.
Happy Mother’s Day, 2020.
Stay safe.
He has until about the end of June to meet with the vague release date, but I can see the pandemic very easily being a reason for why there's another delay.
Also may you be safe and remain healthy. Made sure to screenshot and copy paste. ♥♥♥♥ be cray cray.
We partnered with CB in September 2019 when Steam ruined the More Like This section discoverability, and this partnership helped us double our daily traffic. Whatever black magic they do, it actually works. I've also spoken with other developers partnered with CB and they only had positive things to say about this relationship.
Them not doing any marketing is a blatant lie. A lot of publishers barely do any promotion beside tweeting about your game a couple of times, and abandon your game as soon as its release sales peak is over. CB actually tracks the stats and performance of their apps and adjusts their marketing campaign accordingly.
The claims about abusing crowdfunding are empty, because Lewd Logic has been one of the most vocal advocates for actually releasing erotic games on Steam, instead of keeping them in perpetual development, as is common with Patreon-based projects. The part about purposefully delaying the games is also untrue, otherwise there wouldn't be any released projects under Critical Bliss at all.
If the poster is so methodical that he spent so much time "building their case", he should have posted the receipts and proof for his claims.
In conclusion: In our experience Critical Bliss is the most efficient publishers in erotic games segment, and maybe one of the most competent ones in Indie Games overall. We'd highly recommend working with them, if you're planning to release a high quality adult game. Cheers!
Hello everyone,
I'm Trifinity, the developer behind "Avaria: Chains of Lust", which will be coming out soon or what it was named before "Avaria: Scarlet Labyrinth" while working with Poli. So why do I bring this up? Its very simple. Poli here speaks about Logic being this big bad evil person when he in fact stabbed me in the back, left my project in the state of almost having to cancel it and then lied about aspects of his situation to try to get the game out as fast as possible so he could fund his trips to Japan.
He was the "Programmer" I was working with on a game which he keep persisting for me to work with him since he was tired of also being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over and lied to (Ironic) and wanted someone who could help see a game to completion. When we teamed up, he was tasked with 2 jobs, programming and handling the financial aspects of the project. Upon entering the project he told me specifically not to worry about funding and that he would take care of it. Because of this, I told him to contact the artist of the game and talk to him about his payment, we were going to offer him a percentage of sales from the project. When I asked him about this, he said he had it taken care of and I went to do everything else being writing, project management, concept art for the main characters, etc.
The project went smoothly in the beginning, I'd give him tasks to do and things would slowly start moving into a good direction and I figured things were going good, I thought wrong. He suddenly started telling me things about how we needed to move the game's date 3 months from when we initially planned for cause of his growing financial troubles. After some discussion I figured, sure, it'll take some work to rework everything, but we could make things work. I come to find out in an off handed talks with people in our group that he was planning another trip to Japan, which is pretty expensive mind you, around the time when we would have our game out which didn't make sense to me. The more I probed I soon realized I was being played, he was telling people one thing and telling me the exact opposite. To make matters worse, with us being a few months into development now and the artist pumping out work for the game, I get a message from the artist asking about payment. Apparently, Poli here never had that talk with him and he was completely in the dark about how he was being paid for this project. As an artist myself, this pissed me off to no end since I don't believe in moving forward without a discussion of payment. Luckily Logic stepped in and smoothed things out since he's the one who introduced both of us to the game's artist and paid him and had the percentage talk that poli was supposed to have with him.
At this point I'm starting to get annoyed since I feel like I'm being played by Poli and this dude was suppose to be my partner. To make matters worse not too long after this happened he approaches me about having to cancel the game indefinitely because he could no longer pay for the things he was handling. A thing to note that during this time he had claims that he was using a modified version of the RPGMaker engine being used and me not being a coder wouldn't have been able to continue so that would leave the project dead in the water (I would later come to find out this too was a lie seeing as what he was using to develop was from plugins made by another developer). During this time I was also in a bad financial situation and wasn't sure what to do.
During this time, Logic stepped in and pretty much paid for everything. Custom music to replace the place holder ones, New SFX, paying the artist full time so he could devote more time to making assets on my game and even giving me money to make it till the games launch. Poli also states that he ropes in devs with just word agreements, but I signed a contract with him before we even moved on anything. If not for Logic, this game would not have come out and I'd be out on the street.
What pisses me off the most about this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Poli talks about is that as soon as he found out Logic was handling the financials for the game, he quickly changed his tune and was so eager to get back to development after just saying that he had no way to even support himself. I don't know about you, but those are some pretty big red flags if I ever did see any. He is so ready to throw Logic under a bus, but he won't tell anyone about how much money he put into his pocket to get him through to the next month with nothing else in return or how I'm not the only other developer he's pulled ♥♥♥♥ from.
I can't tell you how many offhanded conversations I've had with developers in passing about how much of a snake Poli is and how he just does a ♥♥♥♥ job and then leave projects a buggy mess only to tell them "Its not my job to fix bugs, that's what QA testers are for". I'd take everything he has said and move on cause its just lies from a guy that wants to burn bridges since he's now got more suckers to believe he actually knows what he's doing.
I will say that Logic has a lot of faults and he isn't exactly perfect and there are definitely ♥♥♥♥ I criticize him for, but I can say that if not for him I'd be absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and to have someone as disgusting and slimey as Poli coming in and talking ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when he's done worse to people is the most laughable situation I've seen in years. So yeah, Go ♥♥♥♥ yourself dude go back to the 4chan slums where you crawled out from.
Naw man I know Critical Bliss, this ♥♥♥♥ is staying up as a symbol of how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ full of ♥♥♥♥ you are.
This entire post is factually retarted, and if this is in-fact poli, this is the same person who took payment for a game project from a client for a YEAR and had absolutely NOTHING to show for it, and next to nothing to show for the other smaller project.
And as far as I'm aware they've failed on multiple projects and was fired from several others.
They ♥♥♥♥♥♥ two projects I was making art for, damn near had me out of work with my best client with the project cancelled. Then they have the game on their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ website like they did anything of value to the game. I, the artist did more programming for that game than he did, the one commissioned to program the game. And they think they have any place to talk ♥♥♥♥ about someone who has ACTUAL success in adult games? Someone who has clearly released several games to phenomenal sales?
Anyone who takes a look at the projects he's published can see so much of this post is false as ♥♥♥♥. Anyone can see LasterK vanished off the face of the internet.
And like the patreon ♥♥♥♥? This dude practically hates patreon as a service and platform. He's well known for his views on patreon for a variety of reasons and doing everything he can to get away from the (my words not his) ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ site. Like even people who might hate the dude know that.
This is just some butt hurt ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trying to bring people down with him for his own ♥♥♥♥ ups.
We're not here for Poli, we're here for WMNAD. Or should we be?
Can any of you get all emotionally-fueled and verbose about WMNAD now like you just did about Poli? Because that's what's missing from this thread (and all the similar threads before it). Thanks! c:
https://twitter.com/CriticalBliss/status/1174386006193319941?s=20
It's coming, ♥♥♥♥ takes time to basically start over.
I would say that yes you have had money stolen from you but I think if your mind was in the state where you thought it was a good idea to give money to some random person who you do not know on the internet on the hopes of getting something back you really need to spend a month or so away from the internet and look at your real life and what is going on there . If your obsessing about when a visual novel pornographic or otherwise is going to be published and your so desperate to speed up its publishing that you will give money to try to speed up the publishing you really need to get back to the real world asap .
