Wow, I just figured out how to remap buttons....if you are using a PS3 controller and DS3Tool on your computer. It is possible to remap the PS3 controller's buttons to whatever other button you want it to be on the controller. So for example, when first loading up Onimusha, the L3 button acts as the start button. In the Windows game controller panel, the L3 button is identified as button number 10, and the start button is 12. Inside DS3Tool, you'd want to change START to Button 10 and....VOILA! Start actually acts as the menu button! Wait...is start the original menu button on the PS2, or was it select? Either way, this method works. Please spread this around to ease the woes everyone is having. If you can find a cheap PS3 controller or even a cheap knock off, they are great for other games using joy2key as well.
Have fun!
