Controls are broken and no widescreen?
Started the game it says "push start button" Pushed every button on controller nothing happens thats a bad start on top of that where is the 1920x1080 option? This seems more like a bargain bin title than anything that was ever finished.

you can either push the space button or if you have a controller its the right thumb stick that works for the start button for some reason and i know what you mean about the resolution all i get is a tiny little box on my monitor and thats with the highest resolution the game offers :tongue:

this game is old...its a ps2 game ported to pc...if you look up the controls for this game, you can map your button to that using xpadder...if you buy pinnicle profiler, it already has a profile for this game. alt enter puts it in fullscreen..put it at the highest res ..change your aspect ratio on your video card to full screen and the game actually looks pretty good.

Despite being re-released for modern systems in a broken state, it's not really the port's fault for the controller configuration problem. The game was made for Win 2000/XP and uses the older DirectInput method config dialog that was removed from Vista/7. That's why when trying to press F2 does nothing. Oni3 is among older PC games that suffer from this particular issue.

Anyway, here is the fix for the controller settings: {LINK REMOVED}

The .zip contains the necessary DLL files that allow access to the config menu by pressing F2 key. Finally no more start button with R stick on X360 controllers!

Also the download contains modified .exe that launches in 1360x768 and proper widescreen. The game is designed with 4:3 in mind and due to having mostly fixed camera angles you might notice some minor texture problems on the sides where you should not normally be able to view. This is nothing major, and it does not break or ruin the game.

Just extract and place the files in the game folder where Oni3.exe is located. Either launch that or Oni3_WS.exe and you should be able to configure the controls how you want.

The only issue that persists and that never was a problem originally when I played on WinXP years ago, are the movies that crash. I will check if maybe they are encoded with some type of coded that causes the crash, much like older games who use Indeo Video. I will check if a workaround is possible, but probably like everyone knows, it's better to just delete the files.

Anyway, it shouldn't be gamers who find solutions for these things, but either way this still remains one of the best action games of the PS2 era that stands even today. Hopefully these fixes will make you enjoy that. I have a limited account for now, so someone should create a topic and post this solution.

Credits for control fix go to user fk__ who created it originally for Rally Trophy, and the widescreeen hack is by user jackfuste on wsgf.org forum.
