Heat

Optimization Guide? Lagging/freezing/glitching too much to play.
Is there a guide for how to tweak graphics, or some way to optimize the game a bit? In 4 hours I got the game to load twice, but it was lagging so bad I couldn't accomplish anything. I passed out and woke up in my tent, on my back, presumably, because all I could see was the ceiling. But it wouldn't even let me Esc out, call up a menu, respond to any buttons, etc. The second time it perma froze when I tried opening the shipping crate.

Any help would be great. The premise of this game is what I've wanted for so long. I'm dying to play it.

I have played HEAT for many hours and enjoy the game. I played it on ultra settings without lags. I had some crashes and glitches but it was playable. After new update I tried to launch and play the game 5 times and none was successful. I lagged on loading screen or crashed right after I joined official server ( NA ). Now it is unplayable for me. Gonna wait for new update or some kind of optimization. I love the game and hope it will be fixed to play it again.

I'm playing Homestead. It does load. But it takes a remarkable amount of time to do so. Think 5-10x as long as Sims 2, with all the DLC attached. LOL

So the game was playable? I'd love for you to load in to yours (Homestead) and see if it's laggy for you. It will give me hope that I will one day get to play this.

Are the devs good about working on it and doing new updates?

It's not disconnected at all. It works. It just takes a very long time to get into the game.

The game itself is super unoptimised.

Try installing on an SSD or defragment the game folder.

There is a big difference. for example: one of the game files was straggling to 23.435 fragments. After moving from HDD to SSD Heat loads within 2 minutes.

I don't have an SSD but I'm planning on getting one. I would love to learn more about this. Would you mind explaining it all? PM works too.

There are so many good "how to" on youtube and the web, much better than i can explain here. Try to start your search with "upgrade to SSD".

But meanwhile you should defrag your HDD with a defragmentation program because of this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtRIOUZuI2c

"defraggler" ->has more otions and easier GUI or
"UltraDefrag ver. 7.1.2" or "UltraDefrag ver. 7.1.3" -> much faster, but you have to manually edit a config file for your desires. (Also NO freespace defragmenting, but very fast for "right click" defragment folder.
Both are freeware.

As for every freeware, check all preferences while installing (don´t install toolbars and so on.....)

i wish you much fun with "heat" soon!

OH I have recently defragged and was already optimized. Am I understanding correctly?

Did you use Windows build in defragmentation or a third party tool? was it defragged after the heat update? If all that did not help, you really should go on with your SSD project!

Yes actually I'm looking to update my whole laptop. My guy is telling me that my disk is failing altogether. He had me start up the game and then check Task Manager. My Disk was at 100%. My Memory was at 93% (I think). My GPU was at about that. So he is saying that my computer is just too old and low spec to give me anything more towards the game, and is failing to meet the spec requirements.

My specs: i7-3630QM Dual Core, 8 gigs RAM, GTX 660m.

Oh! You are playing with a laptop. So there is the problem. I think, laptops where build for working in the train, not for playing AAA graphic games. :steamsad:

BTW, this game is not that great as you may think. Example: After you woke up, you defecate on your bed. I think, this one is more for the stupid or kiddys. Only graphics make it great until now.

Gaming laptops are created for gaming. But this one is old and it's outdated on specs.

I'm hoping Homestead gets better. Right now there's no balance and it's too simplistic. I'm hopeful the devs continue adding realism and difficulty.

All fine, it´s your decision.... But if i write on the hood of a VW-Beetle: "Turbo Race car", do you think it could win Indy 500?

I also hope the best for the game, because it looks fantastic!
