Lean and Steering Idea
Hello.

So I've been playing MXB lately due to the fact that I had an injury while riding in real life
and the game is really cool, the physics feel good overall and is very fun to ride.
I just come up with this idea to adjust the leaning/steering control because of 2 facts.
1. For me has a motocross and supercross rider just feels very weird to have that inverted steering visual effect while whipping in the air and has this happens everytime Im on the air. If Im riding over rollers and trying to turn to one side with my front wheel slightly above the ground the inverted steering will engage and will make me go to the opposite side of where I want to go.
2. I didn't understand yet how much the rotation of the wheels actually make any effect in the direction the bike goes while in air, but if it has actually explains why the feeling is kinda twisted every time my front wheel goes above the ground.

My idea was that the game should not invert the steering wheel while the front wheel goes airborne but we could have a different way of controlling this.
The Lean control that now controls the leaning of the rider and the steering could have a threshold that will separate the rider from only steering and steering and leaning.
How will this work.
The player will turn till the threshold limit and the rider will steer without leaning (players should be able to adjust the threshold);
Has the player will turn more and go over the threshold the rider will start leaning with the bike more into the turn.
A very important detail is that the rider will only be able to turn till a certain point while not using is body, has soon the threshold is crossed the rider will use the body so them it will turn more the handlebars.
Something I notice in this game is that this turning effect gets quite smoother with the speed, that should stay because is very similar to real life.

This actually is more simillar to what we do in real life riding.

I explain what happens in real life:
So if I'm going to turn into a camber turn or even a rut, I have that wall of dirt where the wheels can engage and hold my bike in a way that it will not slide off and make me crash. One thing that happens in mostly every turn is that the rider will not lean with the bike completely. If we do this, problaly we lose traction on the tires and fall to the side, so the rider will need to lean is body on the opposite side of where he turns, this is possible on this game with the L/R lean control, where we only control the body position of the rider.
On this camber turns or ruts the leaning of the bike underneath the rider doesnt need to be so much has in a flat turn because of the wall of dirt that can hold the tires just like I mension before.
If we turn in a flat turn or off camber turn we will literally not be able to lean with the bike and will really need to lean only the bike and the body will stay strait in order to keep that traction.
On a off camber turn the possibility of the rear wheel drifting off is so big rider try to keep their upperbody more strait to be able to turn that handlebars to the opposite side of where they go to keep that traction while the rear wheel is drifting.

Depending on the turns we need to adjust body position, more to front or more neutral.

I give this explanation because turning a Dirtbike has nothing to do with turning a Roadbike and thats a fact.
Most motocross games and even simulators turn the bikes just like Moto GP games, which is wrong.

Basically countersteering a dirtbike happens almost everytime because there is a 60 or 70 percent of chances of drifting that rear wheel and yes, in this case we will need to turn to the opposite side of where we going or just hold the handlebars in place cuz the rear wheel is doing almost everything while is sliding to the side.

I've read some post about this before and yes, most people are saying that this inverted steering effect is due to countersteering but just like I explain countersteering a Dirtbike is not the same has a Roadbike so in a simulator should be different too.

In real life most part of the times we turn a dirt bike by leaning the bike underneath and keeping the upperbody strait, that's why we need to sit more to the right or left and sit more in the front or more neutral in case it's a sandy turn and sitting more to the front will make that front wheel sink.

Hope ya'll understand what I meant and I leave here this idea.
It may improve a lot the riding feelling of this game to be honest.

Cheers
