Startup sensitivity / sliding behavior
I have a hard time getting into the game atm and it's driving me nuts, because i cannot tell how to handle it better.

Mostly at startup: Often, it seems that i can't control throttle correctly or the bikes will break out laterally, no matter how careful i dose the inputs. (always dry conditions) It feels like sometimes, the ground is barely attached to the tires and it feels like riding on ice instead of soil.

Also it seems that i am not able to get a feeling of how curves work exactly, sometimes everything went ok, the next round, even though i am not aware of doing anything different, the bike just slides away and crashes.

I have some riding helpers active, like lean, break and traction and switching them off seems to be more of a very subtle change.

I play using a xbox one gamepad and set lean and throttle linearity to about 50% and played around with lower lean gain. Still i cannot reach a certain level of consistency after a few hours playing. I sit while riding corners and stand outside if them. Mostly, i ride a 250 2 strike bike.

Is there anything to know which will make things more understandable and therefore the bike more controllable? (Besides getting gud ;P)

Thanks!

There is no real need to touch the settings apart from binding the controls to your liking and disabling the aids you don't want. I like to have smoothing enabled for brakes and leaning, but that is just my personal preference. The amount of direct leaning is up to preference as well.

Are you weighting the outside peg when cornering? How about leaning slightly backwards when braking and entering a corner?

Weighting the outside peg increases cornering grip pretty drastically and leaning backwards keeps the front end lighter when braking and entering a corner, so it does not wash out as easily. When you hit the brakes the weight shifts towards the front end, so it is easy to overload the front tire and suspension.
