A question about a locked chest, bug or not?
Hi so I have been slowly robbing every resident blind in chapter 1. I fleeced all of the old camp and now I am sticking it to the new camp. There is a chest in a room to the right of the house that Sharky sits in front of that refuses to open.

My lockpick will always break no matter which direction I try to turn the tumbler, and it never finds a good spot. My lockpick is untrained but up untill now I had no reason to second guess that, everything will open with enough tries save/load.

So has this chest bugged on me, is it always unopenable, or do I need some sort of key for it? I tried quiting out and reloading and no difference.

I don't recall exactly at the moment, but you might be needing to pickpocket the key from Sharky in order to open that chest. Or it might work if you beat him up (knock him down) and loot his inventory.
This works, for example, for Gomez' chest in the Old Camp castle.

Either way, there's nothing story related in those chests, so you need not to worry.

Thank you for the reply. I haven't put any points into pickpocket so I can't test that out, and I already mugged him. I'll just put that aside for now.

11 years too late, but uh... Yeah, this New Camp chest is bugged. It doesn't open and there is no key that would open it, even in the game files. Community Patch mod makes it pickable though. So if you reeeeeally need this chest open - install Community Patch, lockpick it, save your game, disable Community Patch. The chest then stays unlocked, even with CP no longer present.
Here are the contents of the chest, if anyone's interested:
Water x2
Rice x3
Tumbler x1
Plate x1
Ore x15

Apologies for resurrecting this post, but I was looking up this topic myself today, and stumbled on this, so I thought this might help someone in a similar situation.
