Crash at Start SOLUTION HERE! (Memory Access Violation)
I had made a discussion to ask for help on how to fix Memory Access Violation problem at launch, and found the solution but I noticed peopel keep posting the question, so here is what I originally posted back to my discussion:

"In case you have the same problem, I just want to let you know what I did:

I'm with Windows 7, with a COMPAQ PRESARIO CQ56, with Intel Chipset Family Video Card in case you wanted to know, however here's what matters:

I went to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Gothic\system
Right Clicked GOTHIC.EXE, properties, compatibility, and put Windows XP (service pack 3)

And it solved it. Remember to deactivate the steam overlay through the Steam library (game list) just in case, and enjoy!"

Unfortunately, that does not seem to work for everyone. At least not for me.

This, is what works for me...

Delete "GameOverlayRenderer.dll" from Steam folder while Steam is running.

The deleted file returns when Steam is restarted. It needs to be deleted each time Steam is started before you can play the game.

This works for Gothic and Gothic2.
