What keybinds do you use for this game?
Im trying to figure out what each action does, and the best place to bind them to. What did you set your binds to?

I use the default settings.

The arrow keys are for walking, and you use Control+Arrow Up to pick up items, talk to people, open chests/doors. Alt is jumping and I believe X is for sneaking once you learn it from a trainer.

Space is for taking out your weapon and going into battle mode, and from there you use Control+Arrow keys for combat.

As for rebinding them, I'm not sure what to suggest since you need to press Control for a lot of actions.
I can imagine WASD for moving/fighting/actions instead of the Arrow keys would feel a bit awkward as you would be moving all of the controls to one hand, so I wouldn't suggest doing that.

The mouse isn't used in this?

The mouse is only used for limited camera movement, and you can use the LMB for a basic attack. Control+Arrow keys allow you three different swings and blocking.
Both Gothic 1 and 2 are pretty much build for keyboard only.

You could rebind what is now the Control key to the RMB, and the arrows to WASD.
That would make the controls a bit more mainstreamed, though I've never tried it myself.

After some play time, it seems LMB is the same as Ctr and RMB is the same as Left Alt.

The controls are a bit wonky and will take some time to get used to, but so far I really like this game. Gonna play some more now.

Edit: Forgot to mention LMB + A/D does the left/right weapon swings as well.

Ah, right. Then I was thinking of Gothic 2's control scheme of the mouse buttons,
As hard as it is to "re-learn" such controlls i also would suggest you to stay with the Default ...
RMB is Jumping ^^ yeah Arrow Keys moving .. Left click on an target + Arrow UP makes you able to interact with target.... yeah as told Spacebar will put your LAST USED(!) Weapon out. 1 is for your sword, 2 is for your Bow/Crossbow. 4-9 is magic. Combat CAN be hard at the beginning... as soon as you put your weapon out (Sword) you have to LMB+ArrowUP(or Left/Right) to attack someone. Left/Right will give you Left/Right swings. If you attack in an ... special frequency ... you can do some attack combos
If you Attack with Bow/Crossbow/magic you can with LMB aim at your target and with ArrowUP shot at him. If you press the left or right Arrowkey you can change the target (If there is one)..

But Watch out! you can knock out the NPC Humans with Melee Weapons(except for Uriziel).... If you finaly want to kill em you have to aim on them (When they knocked out) and press ArrowUP... But probably people from the same faction will get mad at you...

If you SHOT at them they will DIE...
I suggest you, if you wanna farm some EXP, first knock em down, and then shot em down cuz you get again EXP :p... I think thats all from controls... Hope i didnt forget something^^

Here is one "Special Hint":
"Huno" (In the Old camp) has infinite crude steel... (for crafting swords). Everytime you knock him down he will have some new crude steel... But watch out! He is a though enemy :p
(As far as i Remember you can sell the crafted Sword for 100Erz (Ore... you know... The Money^^) If you don't want to craft you could also simply just sell the crude steel^^

I hope you understand what i mean, i know, my English suckz :c

The only binding change I make is to swap Alt with the Spacebar so that Alt draws weapon and Space is jump.
I've always used the default settings. I only use the mouse for swimming and maybe looking with the camera once in a while.
