1. Make sure that the game is uninstalled. If you previously had the game, go to your Steam folder and check If you have any Gothic 1 folders related (probably: steam/steamapps/common). Remove it, so we are sure there is no Gothic 1 files.
2. Install the game.
3. Right click on the game and go to the Properties -> Beta -> Choose a workshop version and close the window. (Now you should have a tag [workshop] next to the Gothic 1 title in your library.
4. Go to the workshop tab on Steam (you will find it in the row below the green "Play" button on the page of the game).
5. Find Union plugin and D3D11 plugin. Subscribe it.
6. Now go back to the game page. Press "Play". Launch it in the "Mod Launcher" (probably second radio button in the window).
7. Click play in the top right corner. 🙂 (If you have another error "D3D11" related you may turn off the plugin in the same window, just click the plugin and click turn off / disable).
8. While the game is launching - make sure that there is an info "Union 1.0m, with SystemPack 2.0" in the bottom left corner of the loading window. 🙂
If that won't work - let me know. We will try other solutions. :)

Also, the link you gave leads to a no text channel page, so it seems impossible to get in touch with the discord server to ask for help. *-* I can't play right now...
EDIT: I managed to make it work with mods after excluding Steam folder from Windows Defender checks.
It's weird that the link leads you to nowhere. Try to use this invite instead:
https://discord.com/invite/gothic
If that also doesn't work, scroll down to the bottom of your discord server list, and manually join the server using the invitation code "gothic".
Hope to see you there.
