Whistler disappeared

[Failure]

So I accepted the quest from Whistler to get him his sword from the weapons merchant.
Thing is, I couldn't find him for a day or so as it turns out he was stuck on a table in his house, which I couldn't open the door to.
Eventually I managed to talk to him and got the sword.

Now Whistler is gone though, I talked to Diego and he says Whistler is still waiting for me to deliver the sword.
I looked everywhere in the camp, he is just gone.

Now I kept playing and now Diego says that he is impressed that I just ran off with Whistler's ore.
So...Whistler still exists somewhere, he is not dead...

I dont really care about completing the quest, just curious about what even happened or if it happened to anyone else.

Never happened to me in many playthroughts.. he always just sit on his banch. Stuck NPC also usually reset as you move between locations (eg into old mine), sleep or just reload game. Maybe it is a bug but I never had it or read about it.

Never heard about something like that. He should still be on his bench. If you need him, you can try to spawn him with console.

Yeah, he is not on his bench, I literally spent hours running around the camp to see if he was anywhere else. He is nowhere to be found.

When I was initially looking for him I didn't sleep or leave the camp even. By now I have been to several areas and slept a few times but he is still gone, doesn't even show up to kill me.

It's very strange, this is also my first ever playthrough so there is that haha.

Nah, he just remained gone and Diego was impressed with me anyway.
This basically means you don't have to fight him later
