Bug - Assertian Failed (Inventory overload)
So, apparently you could have more items in your inventory than the game can handle.
I've try to take everything I see, including every weapon dropped by enemy, robbing every store (oops) and then, the karma kick in.

At certain point after you've saved, it will CORRUPT your save file, so the next time you try to load, the assertion failed as show above will pop up, and the save file will be pretty much permanently gone.

So far the only option I have is to go to previous save (I have one about 2 hours earlier ... still losing 2 hours of game play though :steamsad:) and try to test it out (at first I didn't know what is the cause, but inventory item is one of my main suspect).

The one that caused this is weapon. I'm currently storing all duplicated copy of same weapon into a chest.

If anyone wanted to test it out, you can request here, so I will load up one of the save file, take all item from the chest, save and send you the link to the corrupted file.

I have the same issue today, only today and today was the day i started robbing the merchants and i have tons of weapons it takes lot of time to scroll in inventory lol... now after reading this it makes sense. Good to know why this issue happens now i can get rid of the weapons and hopefully it does not happen again.

Any fix to this issue ? I just lost my entire progress on the game, cause all my saves are corrupted. (I was doing blacksmith work to make ore, i probably had +200 crude swords on me)

I can only tell you this is not what usally happens. The game can handle over 32000 items in your inventory. I usually loot everything in the game world and it never happened. In addition this game was played by hundred thousands of players and this is not a known issue.

So it must have a different reason. Do use any mods, packs or the DX11 renderer?

Also a save gets corrupted when you save in that specific slot. Its physically impossible that all your games get just magically corrupted because you have too many items in your inventory. If a save game gets corrupted then because you saved in that save slot and at that time something happened. So did you just manually overwrite all your save games? Or do you maybe just have one or two saves.

Dude, so far those that faced this issue happen only right after when we take extra weapon. To make sure of that I tracked down the actual moment that it happen and pick up one less than it to make sure that it's fine, then take one more and it's no longer ok. Then any save file created or overwrite from that moment onward no longer working.

Everyone has different play style, because you didn't have this issue doesn't mean other don't as well.

If you read above, it happen after we try to take everything from the merchant and in another one, after the person made too many weapon.

So far it happen only to weapon, not any other item.

Not that I know of. If that's the only save or all your save slots are corrupted, maybe you want to look into save file editing to remove some of the weapon. I have no try it before so unfortunately there's limited help I can give. Sorry about that.

The error appeared after I did the blacksmith exploit. I farmed for a couple of hours thousands of swords, I bought all potions in game at chapter 3, etc. I was carrying over 15 000 old coins, hundreds of weapons, hundreds of skins, thousands of teeth and other items.
All saves (slots) that were following that timeline ( i have 3 timelines, 5 slots per timeline) were corrupted.
I rolledback to a save prior to that exploit. I've done the exploit again, but this time, I've transferred all my non-essential loot in the chest in my house in New Camp.
I've saved on all 5 slots, and exited the game, restart, and now the saved are ok.

The error from the log says that the item buffer is full, which could mean the inventory buffer.
It must be a specific setting with the 1.08k version from Steam (latest update).

I didn't have any mods or cheats activated at the time.

In chapter 4, after the events, I've tested this theory again, and after getting my hand on +30k ore and my thousands of swords farmed, I tested a save and indeed it was corrupted.

So to remember, if you do exploits in game, make sure you "return to normal" your inventory before saving.

I can indepedently verify that having too many weapons causes the game to crash, regardless of the weapon type. I was also struggling with corrupted saves after beating up some Templars in the old mine and couldn't understand why it happened... until I later tried not taking their weapons and saving. Dropping a weapon and then picking it up seemed to prevent corrupted saves, but then picking my weapon up again corrupts it.

Just go and store all your extra copies of weapons off in a chest, maybe 2 to be safe, as well as any pointless items like coins to prevent this dumb bug.

FINALLY, I noticed that too. After several fails trying to notice what was the problem, it was because of the big amount of loot I was carrying. It corrupts the files. Thanks!!! The solution is simple: save the items in one of your chests.
