[FIXED] Sorry for the ad nauseam topic. Gothic minimizes on top left during loading after new game (after patches)

Following the link above WITHOUT doing the patches the game works but the game's fps is locked and is on permanent window mode at fullscreen (gothic.ini has windowed at 0)

I did the whole installation and patch thing, and then Gothic doesn't load fully after clicking new game before minimizing itself to the top left corner.

I've found a solution but it involves buying the GOG version. I got the Gothic Universe from Gee2Ay and I'm not gonna spend more money for the GOG version even if it's guaranteed to work.

So far gothic.exe and gothicmod.exe are on compatibility service pack 3 and running as admin. (been experimenting other SPs just in case, to no luck)

GOG version does not come with any guarantees either, because what the guys at GOG do is they preapply community patches to some of the games they sell. At Steam, there are no such non-developer updates, and you need to apply them yourself.

Instead of messing with the .ini file and individual patches, can you try the single-EXE Steam Fix linked on this page? Make sure you fetch the "international version":

I applied the international fix, the game starts, with borders even on fullscreen, locked at 25 fps and at 1.08j.

ALRIGHT I'VE MANAGED TO FIX MY GOTHIC.

First of all, if you and I are similar that you bought Gothic Universe in Gee2Ay and are running in windows 8.1, here's what I did. Follow the link D'amarr from Darshiva posted ABOVE.

I'll assume you've made a clean reinstall of Gothic.

1.) DL and run the International Fix
2.) I was prompted to disable DEP, which I did. Rather I tick the option for the essential processes.
3.) Gothic DOES run after using the fix, but it's on 1.08j and you need 1.08k PLUS it'll run with borders on and at 25 fps.
4.) Just do the manual patches you've been doing prior to doing this fix, considering that's what you've been doing and most likely still have the downloaded files.
