Gothic Fixed for win 7/8/10
Ok, as you may or may not know there is a big community of modders who still mod this game and create new mods (sadly best mods like Gothic Expanded Editition have only polish language support). However they created texture packs and DX11 support - and that mean game works on new systems and looks better.

Reminder: If you don't know how to find folder with game on your drive or you are not even able to write properly and edit your posts on steam please do not use this guide because clearly it's not for you.

BTW i have finished game and i have noticed common bug when you try to enter new area like old mine, new mine or other areas (I dont want to spoil game so i will not tell ) so save before entering there. With old mine there is bug with some missing file in sound folder (as i remeber) which does not exist. I just used workaround - when my game crashed i just went to gothic.ini file and disabled sound with notepad (sat sound to 0 and saved changes). Then i've launched game and entered mine, saved there, exited game and sat sound back (set to 1).

The things you need by order of installing:
1. Gothic - Patch 1.08k - http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_6.htm - select game folder game and install this patch.

2. Player Kit - v1.08k - http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_34.htm - select game folder and install Player Kit

3. Gothic System Pack 1.6 - https://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1340357-Release-Gothic-%C2%BD-%C2%97-SystemPack-(ENG-DEU) - scroll down abit to Download (in green), click Anzeigen and choose first one - g1classic-systempack-1.6.exe — 831 КB (851•101 bytes) - and install it to game folder. You need to mark your language version while installling it btw so don't click like crazy :)

Even with that 3 files your game may be fixed however it not worked for me (Steam and GOG).

Time to download texture files and dx11 support:

4. Carnage Graphic Patch - http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1407789-Release-Carnage-Graphic-Patch - scroll to Download - choose G1 version - direct link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4waamw0di358vz3/Carnage_Graphics_patch.VDF?dl=0. Download it and copy the .VDF file into your Gothic\Data\

5.Texture Pack By Artemiano - use google to find it - download, unpack (it's 7zip file) and copy the .VDF file into your Gothic\Data\

6. DX11 Support by degenerated 1123 - https://github.com/degenerated1123/GD3D11/tree/master/PreviewBuilds - download both files, unpack them and copy and paste all unpacked content (folder and few files) into system folder of Gothic I installation. For steam default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gothic\system. Put them by order of second (GD3D11_PreviewReleaseG2.zip) and first one (GD3D11_PreviewReleaseG1.zip) (overwite if asked)

7. G1_NP_UPDATE - use google to find it or use direct link: http://www35.zippyshare.com/v/cgroSz8H/file.html - download, unpack and copy folder (GD3D11) to Gothic\System.

Thats all :steamhappy: Run Gothic. Use F11 to enter graphic options while in game.

Regarding number 7... do I copy the folder inside system or replace it? It's a little unclear in that step.

Number 9? There are only 7 steps :) However in step 6. you copy into the system folder, but second set of files in 6. and files from 7. may ask to overwrite previous files you copied. As far as i remeber i was asked for overwrite when i copied files unpacked from GD3D11_PreviewReleaseG1.zip over the files i unpacked and copied before from GD3D11_PreviewReleaseG2.zip.

Hope it helps :steamhappy:

I certainly don't mean this as a point against the OP, but I just purchased this to play on Windows 10, and after setting it to run in XP/SP3 compatibility mode (actually I just ran the troubleshooter and it suggested the change for me) it ran smoothly without further modifications.

I still plan on checking out the community patches and whatnot, but it seems odd that with the game so beloved nobody's put it all together into a single all-in-one installer/download to encourage new players to give it a try. I almost gave it a pass for the umpteenth time after reading some of the comments/reviews here until somebody on reddit convinced me that it wasn't that hard to get running.

For me both Steam and GOG version can't run without modding (i have black screen in some cases, border around with flickering screen etc.). Maybe because dual monitor setup but who knows really. I've spent like 3 days trying to run it and reading forums/watching youtube at same time. I like it modded :)

i got it to run, but do you have a screen shoot, so i can compare grafik qualitiy? It seems to look worse than i remember playing the old days

Ofc all games from the past look better in memory than in reality. There are plenty gameplays with dx11 on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWcGygqgRe4

What not legal site? What google voice??? Zippyshare is normal sharing site like other. Just click big download sign on linked site and you have file downloaded. I've checked link both on firefox and chrome and i have no strange info (i know sometimes google warns about trainer/cheating sites). Btw i am using premium Eset Smart Security 10 (newest one) and don't have any info from it about bad site or bad file. It scans every downloaded file of mine and i scanned every linked file before use, so seriously I really don't know what you mean.
