Good job dev team, your patch has broken my saves. Yes I tried reinstalling, and pretty much any trick you can possibly imagine. Good thing I was almost done with the game, I'll just peg it as a lost cause and review it as such. Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny wasn't even good.

Due to changes in the gameplay and script code it is likely that savegames from before the patch are not compatible with the patch. We are sorry about this.

If you dont have a Steam Backup of before the patch I am afraid not.

Okay, I suppose I'll be redownloading the game when I have bandwidth to spare, which given the season will probably be February.

You do realise many of us got this game in the special promotion and have had two weekends of play when our savefiles spontaneously stopped working, don't you? It's rather frustrating.

have to say while it is wildly frustrating, im glad i was able to find out what happened from a developer so easily. thanks for at least keeping in contact with your players. even though its not the best news

You think this kind of irreversable change without any backwards compatibility is OK?

I was 3/4 of the way through the game and now all my saves are useless. I was quite enjoying the game but now I am so frustrated I doubt I will ever start it again!

The problem is wider than this company though. Most of the games industry labours under the belief that gameplay is the be all and end all of the user experience in gaming. I could give you dozens of examples, from the intrusive help messages in Saints Row The Third that just make you more likely to crash on a left turn because suddenly you can't see where you're steering, to those games where you have hotkeys for the currently selected attack power, currently selected grenade... but have to click on tiny little arrows a dozen times to select the ones you want.

Please, games industry, start asking your applicants about the grades they got in HCI and Software Engineering. Things like this are way too common and should never happen. We want to fight monsters not flawed development processes.

My issue is I lost all the saved games and when I tried to play new again, I cant even save them

even with lastest patch, game chaincrashes after returning from trials to castle market. Worst version of franchise EVAR
