Wall candle holders

I can't figure out how to get candles onto these. I can get the holders attached to the walls, but when I try to add a candle, I get a "not attached" message. What am I doing wrong?

Hey, Hashi. ^^ You need to hit the candleholder w/ the hammer several times for it to be treated as attached (despite appearances to the contrary). It threw me off, too.
