Ability To Set A Fire That Lasts For In-Game Hours
Title. I would like to be able to set a fire that lasts for hours w/o needing replenishing.

I would guess this would require a third fire model, as it would require a timer; possibly a fourth, if a version were created to use on surfaces.

Playing in harsh conditions, particularly once travel between clusters becomes a thing, I would like to have this as an option. :winter2019happyyul::lunar2020ratinablanket:

Hello nextgengranny,
thank you for the idea, later in the development cycle there will be some bonfires added to the game, but they will have different purpose.

The actual (fully built) big campfire in the game burns for 4 ingame hours in wind shielded area.

Mild/Strong wind can speed up the burning (one of the unique features of the game) and decrease the burning time to 3 ingame hours.

When you play the game with TimeFlow setting to 1 hour (1 ingame day = 1 real life hour) the 4 hour burning time is equal to 10 real life minutes.
If it is too fast, you can try out the TimeFlow setting 2 hour when the 4 hour burning time is equal to 20 real life minutes.

Hi, G4GT. ^^ I was thinking in terms of building a fire that would last through the night in a wind shielded location (which at this point would really only include two island types).

I imagine the bonfire will be used as a signal fire. I wonder if we'll have to worry, though, just who receives the signal. ^^

Thanks for your response. ^^

Idea for a large bonfire, requires 5 wood logs (trunks), would need 4 pieces of kindling in between each log near the center, would require each position to be ignited for the bonfire to be lit, each position when lit would use a small campfire that is smoking animation until the final position is lit. If a position is not lit the others will smolder out consuming the kindling. the initial starting fires would be subject to the same weather condition dynamics, but when the entire bonfire is lit should be able to burn in the rain and wind until 3 logs are left which in rainy conditions will then start to affect it causing smoke but will not be put out until 2 logs are remaining. Wind effects should still speed up burn time. Overall burn time i would see fit to be 4x longer of current campfire rate.
