Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition

Did some research, some fixes that might work
Yes I posted a previous thread requesting help on game problems but since I didn't get the required help I needed I furthered my research.

Full screen = ALT + Enter

Controller requires a I think a Direct input setting, Most new controllers have xinput setting. DMC is nearly 10 years old now and the PC port is nearly 8, so newer controller don't have xinput setting, except a specific Logitech, that has both setting, which can be found at best buy for around $25, maybe more depending on taxes.

People having resolution size problem.. Um, did you bother checking the settings?

and people who generally say its a bad port, Its not... They are saying that because they can't play the game, because DMC3 does tend to get really difficult at times.

It is a bad port. It suffers from various problems, including poor texture scaling, terrible optimization, input glitches, many effect glitches(most notably on mission 18), as well as terribly poor input configuration that has serious problems detecting any kind of analog input.

The game is playable, and still very enjoyable if you put tons of work into it, but it is by no means "not a bad port". I was able to get my playable copy by hacking hex codes into the games engine, using a hacked ini file compined with xpadder, and editing and removing various music files which cause the game to lose frames because it has poor audio buffering.
LMAOO at HD came out years later comment, DMC3 came out in 05 on ps2 and oct 2006 almost 2007 on pc. Are you saying 1080p is only 5 years old? This thing is the worst port of a game I ever played. I still can't play the game of how terrible the port is that I had to DL pcsx2 and play the ps2 version on a emulator which looks and plays 100xs better than the pc version.

Just finished DMC 3 SE without any fixes. Yes, graphics is worse than ps3 version has. But I had no resolution problems (except wide-screen support but it's not a big deal). I had no joystick glitches (logitech one). I had no game lags. Yes, it's difficult to control char in game, but it's no port problems I guess, just game is hard.

No game lags, really interesting. You must have been very lucky.

Do you think it would be possible for you to tell me what hardware you have, for research purposes? Make sure to include your sound card, I think it may be the biggest culprit of frameskip.
For widescreen fixes go to http://www.wsgf.org/dr/devil-may-cry-3-dantes-awakening and download and replace DMC3SE.exe corresponding to your resolution.

Well, I don't know how to do a "1920x1080" fix, Like I said, the game is close to 10 years old and the PC port 8, so instead of complaining that its not HD ready, maybe you should deal with it and play the game. since HD wasn't invented YEARS later

Well look at Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1, 2 and Defiance. All three of those games support AA and high resolutions (not HD resolutions, but high resolutions) and those games came out during PS 1 & 2 times. Not trying to make you look bad, I'm just saying that equally old and older games support this. It's just that at that time Capcom were not good at making PC ports, so yes it actually IS a bad PC port.

A decent port does not have to make you do research just to make the game just pleasable. A bad PC port does. I love the Devil May Cry series and I loved 3 on the PS2, which is why I was willing to make this game work. I can see people who aren't into the series that much hate this port, and it has nothing to do with how difficult the game is.

Thanks for the tip pal, I tried the Alt + Enter combo to get fullscreen but it didnt work only made it slightly bigger but still in small screen windowed mode. The combo keys did do something though but something in steams port version is preventing it from going into fullscreen.

Messaggio originale di IT'S A TRAP:
How am I complaining? I was just asking if someone had the hex decimal values so i could change my resolution to something more desirable.

Also the resolution isn't anywhere near the only problems this game has. I can get past the 30fps dips due to audio sync problems, shadows only properly being rendered in cut scenes and the very small amount of video options available but for a console game to out perform a PC port even as far as 8 years ago isn't acceptable. Lets be honest here if I was smart enough ( or anyone else for that matter) to check the hub for this game before hand I would have saved myself 20 quid which I could have spent half on buying the HD remake of the first 3 games on the PS3 but silly me for expecting a superior system to run a game better I guess , right?

There's a reason the shadows are like that: it's so you can tell what the enemy position is in relation to Dante when you're off the ground. If you didn't notice, most bosses all have proper shadows.

The HD remake is a bit worse of a port imho.
Im having trouble using melee and gun attacks using just my keyboard (i have an xbox controller, but it doesnt work, though i am okay using keyboard only). Jump and gun attack, and style and melee seemed to be binded together to the same key, which is impossible, i set to default and worked with that, but now i can only attack and use style (which is trickster) has anyone had this problem? Anyone have a fix, or an idea for a fix?
