How do you know what button correspond to what buttons are on the controller?
Example: Button 4 = Q. But what trigger is that?
I just want to know all the buttons and mapping. This works for me It's just finding out what buttons mean what.
I'm looking for buttons 1 to 9, what letters they mean and what they would equate on my XBOX 360 controller for windows so that I can appropriately map them so I don't have buttons that clash. I'd appreciate the help. Thank you in advance
The .ini fix worked for me - so no need to download extra files - but only with the right controller name.
To find the controller name on Windows 10, search for joy.cpl in the taskbar and hit ENTER. Your controller name should be displayed there. You can verify which controller you are using with the properties button.
Close out of joy.cpl and open the DMC3SE.ini file with a text editor like Notepad at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Devil May Cry 3 and like a lot of other posts suggest, replace all of the original text with the text below and replace CONTROLLER_NAME with the name that appears in joy.cpl. For the Xbox One X controller I was using, that name was: Bluetooth XINPUT compatible input device.
[CONTROLLER_NAME]
START = 7
SELECT = 6
CIRCLE = 1
TRIANGLE = 3
SQUARE = 2
CROSS = 0
L1 = 4
R1 = 5
L2 = 11
R2 = 12
L3 = 8
R3 = 9
L<->R = 1
GPadCfg does not support XInput devices in which it will tell you that the gamepad is not supported so you'll need a 3rd-party app that "converts" an XInput device/Xbox controller into DirectInput.
Do this the same for Left Stick-Y and select X_Axis.
If using the Style Switcher mod[www.nexusmods.com], install the mod first before doing this procedure. Also restore the GPadCfg.exe and DMC3SE.ini file from the "_Restore" folder to the game root folder.
