Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition

Steam Deck
This game runs way better than the HD version on steam deck. I can play for an hour on the HD version and my deck gets pretty warm but on this version it’s completely cool the whole time. This version won’t detect the controller but I’ve put up a controller layout for it. Also all the visual bugs are gone on steam deck. It’s weird but good.

Even the GPadCfg doesn't Steam Deck's controller?

Also did you use Proton, if yes what version?

That's not an "IF", lol :P This game has no native Linux port - thus it's mandatory to use Wine translation layer ( btw: Wine is NOT an emulator!!!! ) - most Steam Deck users are not savvy enough to use bare Wine so it's pretty logical the guy / girl is using Proton ;)
Tho I am curious which version myself.

That's because HD version is a " "remaster" ", having higher requirements it also loads hardware more.

Did you map mouse / kb inputs to virtual gamepad or did you do something else??

There is a number of games which work better on Linux through Proton / Wine than on Windows natively :P
Welcome to NIX :-D
Enjoy your stay! ^__^

OP, if you indeed are playing on Linux, I encourage you to post your report for the game in here:

Whatever do you mean you didn't?
What did you use then?

Actually, do you have SteamOS installed on your Deck? Or Windows ?

I use steamOS. What’s not to understand. You had one question.

You said you didn't use Proton.

But you are using SteamOS so then you are using Proton indeed.
Question was which version thereof.
Do you know where to check that?

Based on the Proton site[www.protondb.com], I made an updated version (SS v3.1.6)[www.dropbox.com].

For the launch options, I changed it to
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9,dinput8,dsound=n,b" %command%

since there are 2 DLLS from the mod.

Not sure if you need to add "dinput" and "XInput1_3" from XInput Plus in the launch options since I don't have a Steam Deck myself to test it out and probably make GPadCfg detect the Steam Deck Gamepad.

I am not sure how to make an "uninstall.sh" script that should return everything back to normal while uninstalling Style Switcher.

Sorry for necroposting — how did you manage to map the controls? It doesn't work for me on the Steam Deck

Try this one though not sure if it will detect Steam Deck gamepad.

Thanks, but it didn't work. However, I managed to get it working by using a layout made by the community!

Does the triggers work and the analog stick not inverted?
