Best way to play?

Title, never played a dmc game and heard that this one is a good place to start. Apparently this version sucks and I have 2 options, playing the HD collection or downloading some mods for this one. Which one would give me a better first time and/or repeat playthrough experience? Also while im on the topic what is a style switcher and why does it matter? Thanks in advance

Actually the port it's terrible, not trailer. But there is a mod that can help fix it.

I would refund this one if you can and go for the collection. If you have a Switch that version might be worth considering.
