Disappearing UI elements bug
To all who experience this issue, please help us solving the issue by doing the following:

Try to "replay" the disappearing UI elements and send us the log after this has happened.

To be able to produce the enhanced log, please download this .exe file:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cAbNZ8EGWnrCZnTKSSriwq4MUmS21LWk/view?usp=sharing

and place it into the main game folder (overwrite the old one in steamapps/common/Grand Tactician The Civil War (1861-1865).

You should then see the sign "development build bottom right", don't bother if the console with a few red error messages pops up, just close it.

Please start only historical battles as the campaign should not start up in the dev version. When you experience the mentioned issue, please send us the log, located in steamapps/common/Grand Tactician The Civil War (1861-1865)/The Civil War (1861-1865)_Data/output_log.txt

to: info@grandtactician.com

Afterwards you can delete the .exe file and do a file integrity check in steam, it should be restored to the old state.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I've had this bug while playing 2nd Manassas as the confederates. I was in the third day, and I was ordering a brigade to move forwards, and as I was pressing the checkmark, the HQ and pause/play/speed up buttons just disappeared. I was fullscreen, 1920x1080 resolution, and it's happened twice now, both on the third day, so now I can't see their numbers and my casualties, etc. Did I press a combination of keys that makes it disappear, or is it a bug? The first time I did the same thing, pressed the checkmark to move forwards and the UI except the army orders and infantry orders at the bottom is gone! Even the compass in the top right.

It's a bug, but so far we have not been able to reproduce it between the team members so not been able to fix it yet. Thanks for the info!

Full screen borderless 1920x1080, it seems to be random mid battle.

Just tried to send you an output_log.txt file. It's 31 MB, so i can't email it. However, I suspect it’s a Full Screen Mode thing – it either happens when zooming back out from “unit zoom” to “paper map zoom,” or when I ALT-TAB out, and then back in. It seems that the UI isn’t being loaded in the transition.

Just played the Pea Ridge scenario - I didn't ALT-TAB - UI didn't disappear. Pea Ridge scenario also has unit facing issues...

The log is very very valuable! If you cannot send it, can you maybe please search for "exception" and send only this part, maybe in the lower part of the log. Thanks!

Can you remember if there was a certain thing you were doing with the UI at this point?

this also has happened to me in battle or on campaign map on many occasions. some times it happens while scrolling or just clicking a units or not interacting at all with campaign map, just watching or in a Campaign menu, Finance policies ect.

- I'm playing full screen.
- resolution is 1920 x 1080
-random and happens a lot

Also adding --Changing General . in my save no matter if i exit restart game or verify files, I'm unable to see any General portraits. it flickers occasionally showing boarders around the group rank class with no portraits showing. ( Campaign 1861).

P.S
You have created a Master piece, out flanking other games in RTS. Applying The final maneuvers of a Grand Master piece while wading through the swamps of bugs is more challenging. :)

The game was working fine and then when I opened it this morning, the text was missing from the UI. I checked and have the latest Nvidia drivers and other games work fine. Finally in Steam I checked "verify files" and it ran and said that it was missing 12 files and would reacquire. It did and now the game is working fine again.

It does seem to have an element of randomness to it but I have experienced it on the campaign map several times after going AFK for a short period of time. The last instance I had to run out for a while longer (2 hours) and forgot to close out. Came back and literally all of the UI elements aside from the Policy Menu were gone. The first time it happened I was as my PC and looking at things but if I recall correctly I was reading through tutorial stuff and had not actively done anything for several minutes. linked to inactivity? If I get a chance I will try to get you a log later on and try to pay closer attention to exactly when this occurs.

Despite the bugs I am enjoying this immensely. Thank you for being so responsive.

Thanks for the info! Please try the file in the first post. Then, if this happens again, please send the log. The exe in question has the dev logging functionality, which would give us a lot more info to work on.

Playing as the CSA, I opened the "Policies" Menu, and within a few seconds, the UI disappeared - I watched it happen - first time it happened to me like that.

when i played overland campaign,i met this problem.the letter ui and the speed ui all disappeared.but in the battle of perryville(i played three times) i didnt meet any situation of ui missing.so i guess might be two possible reason.several battle or campaign have this problem and others not.Or if we click the ui too fast it will case this problem.when i played overland i click the letter ui too much and too fast and suddenly it disappered after few seconds lag.that might be the reason too.
i also played several hours campain in 1863,but i didnt meet this problem,on the contrary, the too low fps is the problem,it hurts my eyes and merely unplayable.

Please send the save files and output log files to info@grandtactician.com after you suffered the UI disappearing issue.

save found at:
campaingns\001\X*\save
*letter: A = 1861, C = 1862, D = 1863

output log is in the data folder, called "output_log.txt"
--> this file is always emptied when you start a new game, so after the issue, grab the file and please send to us.
