Map Pack #1 Wishlist
We're marching according to the Early Access road-map*:
http://www.grandtactician.com/thecivilwar/blog/articles/the-early-access-road-map

The first big milestone on this road is Map Pack #1 which will add more battle maps to increase diversity in campaign battles.

If you got a favorite battlefield or map that is not in the game, post your wishes in this thread!

*Note, that the map work is done in parallel with bug fixing and pushing forward the other road-map topics like saves and AI. The road-map milestones are arranged according to estimated time of completion of said topics, and is not a list of priorities.

Chickasaw Bayou
Mine Creek
West Port
Carthage
Prairie Grove
South Mountain
Kennesaw Mountain
Chickamagua
Nashville
Franklin
Iuka
New Bern
Stones River
Chattanooga
Lookout Mountain
Murfreesburo
Big Bethol
McDowell
Winchester
Seven Pines
Cold Harbor
Fredricksburg
Chancelorsville
Seven Days Battles (ending at Malvern Hill)
Brandy Station
Wilderness (Some of these are on the same map I do understand)
New Market
Appomattox

I want all these maps. I know a couple of the locations are already on certain maps, but having a more condensed version for some of them would be nice.

I wouldn't mind seeing
- Olustee, FL
Border State Generic areas
Indian Territory Maps
Jackson's Valley Campaign: Kernstown, Cross Keys, Front Royal ect.

Atlanta Campaign: Kennesaw, Peach Tree Creek, Atlanta and Ezra Church
1. First battle of Fredericksburg
2. Cold Harbor
3. Spotsylvania Court House
4. Appomattox Court House
5. Yellow Tavern
6. Battle of Atlanta
Ahistorical or no, I'd like to see a few generic maps. It's great to get the manassas junction map when you're at manassas junction but when you're fighting up near frederick and get it it's a little off putting.

Some maps like a small town in hilly/mountain country, river crossings, mountain passes. More historical maps would be great but I'd much rather see more tactical maps that reflect campaign positioning, even loosely.

Edit: At some point it would be cool to start seeing alternate scenarios in the historical battles. Pipe Creek, Corinth if Shiloh never happened, Washington DC, etc. That and a sandbox mode that lets you choose a map and create your own OOB and start positions.

Do we actually know what maps are in game? If so, where is a full list?
I would second the request for a map editor. It doesn't have to be perfect, but I find myself fighting around Lynchburg and Charlottesville a lot, and being rather familiar with that area it'd be nice to be able to make a map of it. In addition, that would mean the community could add a ton of maps you guys don't have time to make as workshop elements.

That said, for historical maps I'd like to see Nashville, Corinth, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Seven Pines, Atlanta, Fredericksburg, Lynchburg, Bedford, Harper's Ferry, the Shenendoah Valley (multiple quadrants), and Washington DC. Alternate maps would be Charlottesville, Staunton, Raleigh, Charlotte, and various northern cities/locations for battlefields.
Prairie Grove
Just do the whole country in interconnecting topo quad sheets. :)

I like the idea but not too realistic , but a map by states would be good .

I know a lot of work , but this is where the workshop could have all its use with the help of your lovely community :heartzen:

do you guys have the mansfield and pleasant hill battlefields? both in Louisiana

Not yet.

So if I get what you are saying, this region would have 4 quadrants of maps that would in turn each contain the battlefields you are referring to which I think is great and would love to see. ...

Sorry for the delay, life gets in the way. But to answer this part in particular ... Respectfully No.
I take it you're not familiar with the USGS[www.usgs.gov] system of identification. Quick course: when you get a battle map come up on your screen, per the USGS that's known as a quad sheet.

In the area that I suggested there are some 40 odd quad sheets per the USGS site. Each highly detailed and interconnected to the others, thus providing a high topographic resolution of the land area. As a road reaches the side of the map, it will continue on the next quad sheet and so on.

Hope this works: The link below should provide a picture of what I suggest.
Please note that the white grid lines you see are the USGS Quad Grid, Those are what I mean by a quad sheet.

... Perhaps what you could be envisioning is that day 1 of a battle takes place on one of the maps, next day you move on to the next etc in a chain of sorts. That would be a great concept and would support it. i believe that at the very least they need to rethink the way VP are assigned to battles.

Looks like you got it. :)
Yea that would be amazing.
Olustee in Florida would be an exotic type of Civil War battle to include.
Detailed maps for:

New York City
Boston
Philadelphia
Washington D.C.

New Orleans
Richmond
Charleston
Atlanta

I'd love to see detailed maps for some of the major cities in the north and south. I was watching one of History Guy Gaming's videos and the Confederacy actually invaded Boston in his game. It was pure folly, but the possibility of being able to invade Philadelphia, New York or Boston as the Confederacy from the sea or land and slug it out on detailed maps of those cities would be AWESOME! The same holds true for several southern cities as well.
