Example;
Infantry brigades get Infantry and Engineer officers
Cavalry brigades get Cavalry Officers
Artillery batteries get Artillery officers
Horse Artillery batteries get Cavalry and Artillery officers
(All assigned in order of Seniority, Age, Experience as stated below. Plus if possible assign according to both the officers home State and the recruitment State.)
As for Armies, Corps and Divisions they should be based on, 1st Seniority, 2nd Age, and 3rd Experience. So officers with the highest date of rank (or Seniority) will get assigned first. If 2 officers have the same date of rank then they go by who is older. If that is also the same then they go by who has more experiences.
As for helping you with searching for specific officers, there are some filters on the right side of the screen that sort and show according to different roles, such as what branch of military they are assigned to. These filters do come in handy. Just be warned that the Artillery filter stay selected until you manually deselect it, while most of the other filters will automatically deselect. It would be my preference if all of the military branch filters would stay selected until I manually deselected them. It gets annoying to have to keep selecting the Infantry and/or Engineer filter, when I'm assigning officers to a bunch of Infantry brigades all at once.
Would you rather have people like General Jackson auto assigned to artillery? If it goes with the branch their in then that's what would occur. Both sides have benefits but before the auto assign I can assure you it got VERY annoying constantly swapping out some commander you never want but is always there.
It doesn't mean you have to keep him there, but cronos's idea of a sensible **default** initial selection at least simplifies things for the majority of assignments. Special cases are special cases.
Thank you for the tip. I did not realize. That will save a tremendous amount of time.
This would be way too much work for something you should want to do anyways and takes 3 seconds of your time.
