Are regiments coming
I have posted this before and now looking at the post release road map it is basicaly finished and I like to see regiments get added whether it be through dlc or the last major update until the dev team moves onto another game

no. it's not. this is a brigade game. regiments would be way too big and require way too much management. There are much more important things to make the game better than making it harder to manage

I don’t think they need regiments but 3 brigade sub commanders would be nice for officer development. Right now in the infantry you go from 2nd Lt to Colonel and there is no development. It would be nice to put young or inexperienced officers under seasoned brigade commanders to train them and get them ready for command.

What i would give to see them make a Napoleonic Wars version of this

I have done Napoleonic renactment for 16 years so obviously i love Napoleonic period but i dont think the game would be better. Civil war is just perfect time period for such a game.

I don't know how training works in the game, yes perks add to unit ability and battles can add to the level of veteran status. Maybe some other button where units can stay in a safe position and be trained in the basics, as Washington used the time a Valley Forge. If there is a way to do please give me a hint:-)

Technically you can do a regiment, which would required editing the regiments file on a save or campaign. I don't exactly know which line but take a look at the modding tool spreadsheet and if need be go from there. But as the game stands you can't recruit regiments only edit them in.

It's useless anyways since regiment/battalions/companies will always replenish to maximum unit level. (3000)

Regiments ARE NOT coming.

It depends on the Administration of the Officer and his Experience.
In any case, I found that if just left to their own devices during the warm months they will slowly accrue training, (slower in Winter) but due pressing matters (A billion angry Yankees) I found battle was the best trainer and at best the new Brigades went in "Poorly" trained rather than just "Untrained".

That just does not seem like a reasonable way to send troops to battle, except unless your name is Vald the Put.

Everyone's new to this war business, your enemy are in the same boat.

I haven't really experimented with it, but your enlistments to begin with are only for 12 months. Six months training just isn't feasible, in my mind at least. But hey, your mileage may vary.

Ideally for first battles I want my chaps dug in for a defensive position. To let them see the elephant but not be trampled by it.
Old War Dog Oct 3, 2022 @ 8:52pm
I like that last statement, would rather have my trooper in well prepared positions; however, doesn't take six months to train basic marksmanship, drill, solder field hygiene, and how to dig field fortification, maybe a little longer for Field Artillery, and the ability to shoot from a horse, but agreed bullets flying at you make for good experience, unless you get hit by one. The last two, Artillery and Cavalry are kind of reflected in the amount of time to recruit. My point is that there is no comprehensive way to train after recruited other then combat and that seems to be only one of two ways combat experience which is mostly unit perks and veterency.

I've no idea about the actual numbers. I think a month with a good administrator on top of the assembly time will get them up to 'Poorly' trained at least? Maybe three for Regular?

But yeah, I see your point.

The game already has a battle in which the regiments participate, and everyone likes it and everyone copes with the management.. Except for the "especially gifted" ones..
And the maps themselves are designed for regimental-level armies.
You can see it at a glance!
