Recruiting Drafts?
I've advanced a campaign as the Confederates, starting in Spring of '61, to having just passed the Conscription Act in Feb of 1862. I'm curious how I can begin using my newly acquired access to a quarter of a million screaming Rebels and recruiting them as new units?

Thanks

nm, I found it on the unit card, a slider to switch between volunteers and drafts.

This game is so cool.

Remember that every drafted unit lower state support + those brigades have lower fighting spirit. This can have a snowball effect as drafted troops become less effective in later stages of the war.

However, the AI will draft troops as well and you simply need those extra men to fight off the AI's hordes and both sides become full of weary brigades with low morale.

It is technically more efficient to still only recruit volunteer brigades, because drafts are used to replenish their numbers (and the draft also increases the speed at which brigades fill back up). This is not always practical, of course...

Just like Alex said. The norm should be to recruit the smallest number manning infantry/cav/artillery. Then let your draftees fill it to max as they won’t have the same moral hits. It will take time to refil them though. Also remember that units in southern states(not southern controlled areas) will refill faster
