I have a big problem with the map rotation
I try to play this game and I find it almost unplayable becuase ever time i look at the grand map if my mouse is not in just the right place the map starts rotating very fast. Is there a way to turn that feature off or put it on keys instead of mouse? The game is unplayable when you spend all your time trying to orientate the map so you can make sense of it.

I also do not like the swinging map effect. It would be nice to be able to turn off the mouse rotate and have it just assigned to the keys.

I agree I never want to rotate the grand campaign map anyway. It's only the battles where you need to rotate the map. I would rather they used the left mouse button for panning by dragging the map around, and got rid of the rotation entirely on the campaign map. It gets to just be a right pain. You can though play in 'atlas mode' by pressing the little N button and then the map always faces up. Although I personally use that for seeing a quick overview of the zoomed out front lines.

You can use the keys to navigate on the campaign + battle maps but I would +1 the idea of toggling mouse navigation as I dont use it at all.

I recently got the game Total War Empire, and they use the same scrolling mouse settings for the tactical battles. So, just my theory, but I think they are just copying them on that, not sure. though it'd be nice if there were a few more keypad controls. Like maybe using the left and right direction buttons to let you select different corps or even press down to select a division and give them an assignment.

I use WADS to move around, QE to pivot and XC to zoom if anyone doesnt know you can. Same in Total War. +1 on the arrow key idea.

I really hope they overwork their system at some point. You pretty much have to use the keyboard to move the camera. The mouse just doesn't feel good, for example zooming with the mousewheel is far too slow. I rather have a drag system for the map and maybe a "hold the middle mouse button" to turn the camera left and right and to adjust pitch. Moving the mouse to the edge of the screen should only move the camera in that direction and not turn the view at all.

I got the idea when I saw that the have the arrow button on the unit panel.

I use RF to zoom, a QE to pivot, Z slow down time, X pause time, and C speed up time

I like the mouse movement occasionally, but my main problem is the fact you can never recenter the top of the camera to north. If you slightly bump it its forever tilted a few degrees off.

there is the button on the compass, but it doesn't stay resat.

So If you press the button with the N on it that is attached to the compass, it disables the rotation. You can still zoom in/out if you use the keyboard buttons for zooming in and out. I recommend changing the hotkeys to something that makes it easier to control. Mine, as mentioned above, is setup as R to zoom in and F to zoom out. rather than P and X.

I really hope they will add rotation using the mouse soon.
I find that it distracts me from the game having to use the keyboard for this... it is less intuitive for me.

Move the mouse to the upper left or right of the screen. it works wonders.

I also do not like the mouse doing the rotating. In any other game I’d turn it off.
