Grand Tactician: The Civil War (1861-1865)

Grand Tactician: The Civil War (1861-1865)

Campaign Open or set by Chapters
I read an article stating that there would be like 4 chapters? Is it not open ended like in other grand strategy games? I want to play a full campaign from 1861-1865 without breaking up the action.

It is a fully sandbox grand strategy where you can play out the whole war if desired, however there is also a small story element and different starting dates.

Yes, there are multiple starting dates, but the campaign is open ended sandbox. The chapters carry the story with certain objectives, such as demoralizing the Union prior to presidential elections, or similar.

Gotcha I guess I’m confused on how the chapters work then. Say the union wins chapter 1 but loses chapter 2 does that affect the whole game if it’s still going on? All I want is to play from 1861 till I win if that’s 1864 or even later is that possible ?

Yes it works like that - you can play from 1861 till the end of the war. Basically you will advance in chapters if you don't lose. I mean, for example as Union, if the citizen get demoralized over losses etc. and they vote the republicans out, then you will eventually lose. But if this does not happen, the war goes on.

Just clarity. You are using the term "Chapters," which sounds arcade/ gamey to me. What you mean, is that certain conditions would trigger events. There isn't a story board.

Yea from reading the info on the game there is no "and now you have completed this step so we play a different game that has been set up for you because of these conditions". Its a grande strategy game set over a specific time period somewhat reminiscent of a paradox game and the consequences of your actions will be visible and stay with you till your particular side wins or i assume loses the war, however during the war there will be different "chapters" of the war as in beginning, middle and end.

Exactly: from the eager volunteers and fervor to exhaustion. The chapters simply tell how the war turns from "it'll be over by X-mas" into "will it ever be over?".
