I honestly don't see a problem with it. If I'm to take your word for it, then it seems there's ENOUGH dating sims with lgbt characters that are done right, so the grumps having one that's all about comedy isn't going to be such a big deal since people can play those other games for more serious themes/tone.
Also there are already ALOT of BL/yaoi games out there and most of them are serious without being a joke or angsty.

also i think game grumps could do way worse concept-wise, i'm really digging this idea
I also have played quite a few dating sim games and I very rarely see kids involed with the story, not one the MC is responsible for at least. I think that won me over when I saw that you are not just going out on a fling but also looking for someone that you trust to help care for your families furtue. That's just my opion anyway, if you're that worried wait a while after it comes out and feel it out.
