Whittling minigame??

I was only partway through the game and had two dates with Robert and one with Craig, but then I saw it updated this morning so I started over and fastforwarded to get to where I was.

But then I saw the whittling gmae come up in Rob's second date! Which surprised me like "what? he has a minigame now??"

...But how do you play it?? I just guide the knife randomly and it seems like only sheer luck anything gets chipped off the block! And I can't skip past this sequence and there are SO MANY blocks when I keep praying I'm done! Halp how do??

Keep running the knife from bottom to top. You'll whittle it down stroke by stroke.

It feels like I tried that, going down and up and going slowly, but I guess it's supposed to be done in one long stroke? Since I tried that just now and it seems to work more consistently, especially after I just discovered I can actually do it quickly as long as it's down-up all the way in one go. Thanks for the tip! If it's based on real whittling then it's obvious I've never done it, ha.
