The Bad & Confusing Ending with Robert? (SPOILERS)

I went into the game and decided to go the Robert route, so everytime Dadbook came up, I messaged Robert all three times and didn't try to hang with the other Dads.

SPOILERS AHEAD -

I don't know what happened though. The outings seemed pretty pleasant with him every time, but at the end party, when I talked to him, the conversation was suddenly about if he had talked to Val when the subject of Val had literally never come up during the time we spent together. I had no idea who he was even talking about, and I could only assume it was something to do with his kid after awhile.

Then when Robert said he hadn't chosen to talk to her, I had no choice in the dialogue and my character told Robert he was a bad person. Then he went off to say something about I didn't seem to care when it was all about 'getting laid' before, which I don't recall ever choosing options for during the time we spent together. I kept everything pretty humor-based.

So the fact that the ending went down like this made no sense to me and came out of nowhere. Is there something I missed? Was I supposed to hang out with other dads to get Robert's backstory? How did my non-sexual options make it seem like I'd been wanting to get laid? WHY DID I MISS SO MUCH STORY, APPARENTLY?



TLDR; I got a bad ending with Robert when we had reasonably good dates & never once talked about his daughter even though it was brought up. What gives, what did I miss?

well did you sleep with him when you first met him at the bar? that automatically puts you on his bad ending, i believe.

in his good end, on the third date he talks extensively about val. the continuity is an error, i think.

I didn't sleep with him on the first date.

It must've been that the third date didn't go well, since he didn't end up bringing up Val. He just gave a goodnight & walked into his house after the ghost tour ended. But the fact he brought Val up at the party after we'd never talked about it was weird. Since my character shouldn't have known or had an opinion about it. Must be a glitch in the system!

It might have to do with what you said on the third date with the tour? I know you have to choose 'I used to be a grifter,' and go with the choices related to that while making up a story with Robert, as in his Dadbook profile he says that's what he wanted to be. I learned the hard way that if you don't do that, he doesn't let you into his home afterward, and Val won't come up!

I did get that far, but then I messed up one or two times and forgot the fake name he gave himself as a ghost investigator. That might've been what broke his heart lol.

Did he still bring up Val at the party for you, when he hadn't brought her up before?

Haha, I did that my first time, too, and that also loses you points. It was Daniel McSturgiss, he likes the 80s reference, and I believe you choose the bible verse that starts with an E, if that helps!

Yes! On the run that I messed up, that same continuity error happened and it didn't make sense.

I got too invested in the story & then at the end I was "WHAT IS HAPPENING?!" enough that I had to make this thread. Glad I wasn't the only one lol.

I got it wrong at first, too. I just wanted to make Robert laugh, is that so much to ask?

No, you weren't alone on that. It seemed like I'd done something wrong when he went home without me, I had the same reaction to him bringing up Val that time. But once you do it right and he lets you in, what you should say to him is a lot easier.

Don't sleep with him though, even on the third night. I know y'all have been having fun and the dates have been nice but if you sex him he'll start treating you like ♥♥♥♥. Yeah.

On the third date if you mess up the story the pair of you spin for the ghost tour then he'll get angry with you and cut the date short.

Despite this the epilogue will refer to the conversation that you're supposed to have with him at his house after the ghost tour.

This was the first ending I got with him and trust me I was SO CONFUSED.
