But either way, yeah, Lucien looks too much like him to be anything other than his real kid.
((Where was it confirmed he's trans?))
in game, if you compliment his cloak, he says "thanks!" and lists off victorian-era appropriate clothes he has, including binders. on twitter, someone asks the devs if this meant he was trans, and they said yes! <3
It's confirmed on twitter by graylish

No need to be so rude to him, he was expressing his opinion in a polite and nonthreatening manner, even if his opinion was wrong.
And while Cy's comment does seem a bit harsh, there is some truth in it
Damiens sprite is very male looking in the sense that he looks biological male such as the adams apple
I dont know what you can do yourself to look male, without any medical aid and nor do I know how what testerone injections wouldve changed about him since its different from person to person
- Or getting surgery, I don't know whats available to help one out, so perhaps it could all be explained
-- Also if he did get sugeries, to what extent then? Like, what does he has between his legs?
Other things Ive noticed is that he says 'when I was a young boy', which makes me wonder, is that how FTM trans people consider themselves when thinking back to that time?
Because Id personally think itd be 'what when I was a young girl', unless he became trans at a very young age, then I guess not
Tho he couldve also just simply said 'When I was younger' to avoid confusion
This is just me wondering btw, Im very curious about it all and his back story, because as an artist wanting to draw stuff, I want it to be 100% accurate and with these plotholes Im just left here, speculating
Trans men do develop Adam’s apples. Some end up with quite pronounced ones. Testosterone could absolutely account for the way he looks. Facial structures often change as well. Body fat redistributes, both on the body and on the face, to more typical “male” placement. Often cheeks become thinner, jaws become more pronounced, etc. Noses can grow larger as well. If a person starts T young enough, even bone structure may change. His shoulders may have become broader because of hormones as well. I don’t see it in Damien, but allot of guys also get male pattern baldness. Given his features I’d say he’s been on testosterone for at least a few years, because the first few years do very much resemble puberty. I’m in my twenties but at the moment I’m absolutely covered in acne and my voice keeps cracking lol.
Trans men do often end up looking enough like cis men that people can’t tell they’re trans without being told. I attend a trans support group that family members are allowed to attend. I’ve often heard those family members wondering why there are some cis men there, when they’re actually all trans men who have been on T for several years. We are often shorter than cis men, but for some that’s the only major visible difference.
Since he talks about using a binder, he hasn’t had top surgery yet. I don’t know enough about the different types of top surgery to give any information really. And I don’t feel comfortable discussing any bottom surgeries. All I will say is that what’s in Damien’s pants is no one but his business. It really bothers me when that’s one of the first question a trans person or character is asks. Who cares what he has or hasn’t got.
Damien describing himself when he was young is absolutely normal. Many many trans people describe their younger selves that way, as the gender they really are. In the same way a person’s old name can make them deeply uncomfortable, being described as ever having been the gender they were assigned can be very upsetting. Several other trans people I know avoid looking at childhood pictures of themselves as well. I would never talk about “when I was a little girl”. I might be more likely to say “when I was a child” than “When I was a little boy” But both phrasing is normal. There are trans men who would talk about when they were “little girls” but that’s much less common. The age a person realizes they are trans doesn’t affect the language they choose to use. People who work out their gender in their twenties can be just as uncomfortable with their childhood self being misgendered as people who work out who they are very young.
There really are no plot holes which I see that would make Damien not “seem trans.” I’m sorry if my wording sounds harsh in any of this. He’s just one of the very few mlm trans men characters out there, and so I’m quite invested in him. There really aren’t many other characters out there who represent me. And if I worded anything weirdly, or if you have any questions please feel free to ask me. I hope I don’t come off as too aggressive, that really isn’t my intent.
Everyone has an Adam's apple, actually! Fun fact. In biological women it's just less pronounced. In addition, everything Scmnz said is A+.
On the topic of whether Lucien is his biological son, I like to think so, even if just because I think they have similar facial features.
Thanks for being so open and friendly! I know issues of gender (much like issues of sexuality) can often be a minefield, and it's refreshing to me that you didn't see some poor wording and automatically assume hostile intent. Sometimes people are just curious, and want to know more, but don't know the right words to use. I think I'd rather people ask questions, even if they're phrased tactlessly, than remain ignorant.
