Impossible to fish in Sunken Ashes

I've been in the Sunken Ashes area for a while now and it's a pain to stay alive there somehow. You can hardly find any canned food and fishing is almost impossible. The only school of fish has 3 sharks swimming around it, which really take away every fish I kill. I do not know what to do. I have the speargun craftet, but until I take the fish, it was already eaten by one of the three sharks. I have to keep loading and trying again, but it doesn't work. I also have the feeling that it is even more difficult at night than during the day. Sometimes there are only 3-4 fishes swimming around instead of a whole school.

I found a solution, thanks to fast travel you can always travel back to the starting area. There you can stock up on food more easily thanks to the better equipment (with the iron in Sunken Ashes you upgrade your weapon). The sharks in the starting area are much less aggressive and there are 2 large schools of fish. When you have enough food, you can easily travel back to the more difficult area.
