Awful game
I can't remember the last time a game managed to turn me off so fast from a demo. All this talk of chess and the screenshots of the board and I thought this would be a good, grid-based strategy game.

Instead the actual combat takes place on another screen in real time where you can't use the mouse in this ooooh so bad little mess of a game. Seriously it's very, very bad. It's like a failed hobbyist game in pygame or something. Chasing after the randomly moving monster; when you stop running you are frozen in a mid-run animation.

Really, really awful. Very glad I didn't buy this.

It's exactly the same structure as the original Archon, I know, I still have the original two games for my Commodore 64. Chess-like movement on the board, joystick action gameplay in battle. That's Archon. If you're not a fan already going into this, you're most likely not going to get it.

It is like robin said. This is a remake of the Game from 1983 (Atari 800, C64, Apple II and other old home computers). I like the original and i collected serveral differnt versions of this game for different computers. And i love this remake. It is very good. You can play a modus where the game look similar to the original and you can play serveral enhanced modes.

As others have said...it is a retro game and faithful to the original.

I like the game somewhat, but it is not faithful to the original.

Same game board - check
But - Board functions differently (power points orignally supercharged the health of the piece over time)
Same pieces - check
But - Different abilities on some pieces (even with secondary abilities disabled)

Personally, I think the changes reduce the strategic elements from the original.

Archon is the best! And I think it's a good remake. But I miss the internet multiplayer option too.

Archon is great. I enjoyed the orginal on the Atari 8 bit and this remake is a huge improvement. The orginal Archon only had one game board and no campaign. I've put a lot of hours into this remake and got more than my money's worth.

Anyone who would write off an action/strategy game because it doesn't have mouse support is not someone whose opinion I care about. I never had a problem with controlling the game.

I loved Dark Legions, the first 'remake' of Archon. The Shapeshifter was so cool, as was the troll who could transform into a stone, the Ice Wizard, etc etc.

Awesome game.

This is just a different variety of the board games genre and is very true to the original (from 1983) which makes it as the others said - Awesome!

I love this game. Don't know if the devs are reading these boards, but if you do: Thank you! Brings back great memories plus new enhancements :)
