First experience (played 10 minutes, few spoilers)
ok i'm sure this game is good and i need time to appreciate it but i'm very confused right now.

here's my first experience with Obra Dinn.

1- i have to investigate what the hell happened on this ship and the first body i met (the guy shot) is automatically placed in the 10th chapter in the book ("the end" chapter). how does my character know that happened at the end?? i was so confused by this. shouldn't i be the one to discover that? why is it automatically placed perfectly in the exact chapter?
"oh, a body. he was shot. 100% HAPPENED AT THE END, NO DOUBT!"
what?

2- then i investigated about the guys inside and i noticed a locked door. i enter the memory of one fella and after the mental trip i return to reality and the door is now open. why? is it a gameplay thing or there is a good reason for that to happen? can someone answer this without making spoilers, please? just want to know if it's part of the gameplay or there is a "story" reason behind it.

3- the game doesn't tell me things that i need to know. i looked in a cabin and i entered this woman memories. i'm not going to make spoilers, but the scene is pretty chaotic.
now let's see if i can explain myself here. while i'm in the memory scene i hit the space bar by accident and everything turns black, i can only see the silhouettes of the guys around me. i tried turning back to normal but i couldn't. i manage to do it i don't even know how and now, back in reality, the death compass is glowing and it traces a white "trail" that leads me to another corpse. a corpse that was not there before, but it was in the woman memory.
what the hell happened? what did i do? i hit the space bar and everything went to ♥♥♥♥, i didn't even know why. i tried the same thing in other memories but nothing happened. why doesn't the game tell me what was that?

i was mad, so i went to the main menu and hit the x to close the game.
the game freezes then crashes.

well, see you tomorrow i guess.

btw if any of you could enlight me about some of these things, it would be nice.

Afaik 1 and 2 are entirely for gameplay reasons as you suspected. Sure it goes a little against the idea of being an investigator with nothing but logic and scraps of clues but believe me, making the player arrange a timeline at the end of the game would not add anything to the game. Plus I just love seeing the book get filled in while that jingle plays, it's almost as satisfying as actually solving people. And doors unlock as you progress because if that was not the case you would be able to go everywhere on the ship right off the bat, which would be bad.

3 is there to let the player know that you can find bodies inside other memories. When the watch starts vibrating you need to find a corpse in the memory and use the watch on it, which will return you to reality. It is probably the most critizised part of the game, as after the first few times most players find it infuriating to have control taken away from them for so long, but I do understand why it is there. After the corpse has appeared in reality you can go back to the previous one and take as much time as you like there.

I understand that you felt worked up after playing through that, hopefully this helps you be more relaxed when playing the game in the future. This game is in a format completely different from anything before so it's understandable that there are a few roadblocks that could be smoothed out, but the rest of the game is fantastical if you take your time taking it in.

Note that the handwatch's clock hands point towards the chapter (small one) and the part of the chapter (big one). Nice detail.
I suppose the character just figures this out automatically because the game is already pretty complicated without putting this stuff together at the same time. And you could totally interpret some scenes differently and put them in other chapters, and it'd still make sense.
